Spotted together in #SunValley - NFL Commish Roger Goodell and Bob Kraft

This is pretty disgusting IMO.

At least Kraft could stop his ball washing until Roger renders a decision. Brady's reputation hangs in the balance and the guy orchestrating the Witch Hunt is hanging out with a guy who professes to support Brady who he says has never lied to him.

Yawn. I'd be there too if I could find my billions I misplaced.

There's only one spin I can think of that's remotely plausible, namely:

"Bob, what do I need to do to make this problem go away."
"Roger, I'm known Tom all his adult life, and I can tell you this -- nothing short of a full exoneration will satisfy him. If you want to keep this out of Federal court, that's his bottom line."
"What if I cut the suspension to one game or something."
"Not good enough. Besides, that will just keep it in the news, especially in the run up to opening night."
"Damn. But you know I still have to fine him for not turning over his phone, don't you?"
"Sure. The money isn't the issue. Just give it to a charity that has something to do with kids."
"Does this mean you'll be wanting your draft picks back too?"
"Well, yes. You won't hear a peep from me about anything that can be spun as a penalty for non-cooperation or some technical rules violation, but you can't leave it at a level that looks like it's about a conspiracy to cheat."
"Damn."
"Hey, we're all in this together."

I don't think that's very likely, but it's the best story I could come up with ...

And by the way, that's an event where bitter rivals in the telecom industry hang out with each other, so don't read too much into any civility.

Did your mushrooms taste funny tonight?

"Bob, what about your fanbase backlash to this meeting?..."

"no sweat Roger...the Patriots fans are nothing but total suckers and deserve whatever I deem appropriate in OUR quest to increase and maximize our profits. After all, those idiots think this is just a sports league run to entertain them. We know better. As long as we keep them in the dark and water them every Sunday, the mushrooms will continue sprouting up from our horsesh!t garden beds in ever increasing frequency..."

Here's their real conversation.

"Bob, I love power!"
"Roger, I love money."
"I love you Bob."
"I love you too, Roger."

To the contrary.

One thing that upsets me is that Kraft could still do this, yet I don't think he's likely to bother doing so at all.

It might not mean anything.

The Wells Report had it's most credibility when it was released. It was already being poked with holes, although not getting a lot of press, at the time of the suspensions five days later. Since then, Wells Report has been picked at and nobody is defending it. Even Goodell has not publicly supported it. Does anyone believe if the punishment were coming down now, it would be 4 games and loss of draft choices?

Kraft is not one to yell or make a public fuss, but he's not a pushover either. I believe he has told Goodell the Patriots did nothing wrong and he expects him to rule based on the evidence and doing otherwise will not reflect well on him.

I hope kraft stays away from this and not try and persuade brady to take a reduced suspension just like he has been after brady to take less money for the good of the team appealing to brady's sense of loyalty to the team and his teammates. I hope brady doesnt buy into all that.

Irrelevant. Bob is dead to me since the whole "I paid for an amazing website this week, but I accept all the crazy punishments the NFL gave us" BS. He kept the franchise in NE and hired Belichick. The coaches chose and helped the players win games. Kraft wins nothing. He can burn in hell.

I must admit, I'm caught in a tough neighborhood, the one between loving the staff, the coaches and the players next to beginning to revile the owner.

And by the way, that's an event where bitter rivals in the telecom industry hang out with each other, so don't read too much into any civility.

The CEO "bitter rivals" in the telecom industry, like in most big business, don't personally dislike each other at all. They are all buddy buddy billionaires and will happily jump ship to a different company if it meant they get paid. Hell telecoms happily collude together to keep competition down all the time.

So Kraft and Goodell are probably having a grand ol' time together.
