Ted Wells' Train Wreck Press conference :D

That's like saying someone on trial should get to agree with the state on who the judge is

I'd say it's more akin to jury selection (voir dire) in which the defense does have a say.

Edit: And in any case, if a judge has conflict of interest the defense can ask for them to recuse themselves anyway.

Have to disagree with this, staying silent and letting the NFL dictate the conversation is a poor strategy! They really need to get out in front of it. Sitting ideally by while the conversation leaves you out is a sure way (as already seen) to lose public opinion.
Wells may be a ****head, but he is being seen as outraged by having to defend his report.
The only Patriot thing people see is fan support of the team. Has Tom even said anything? Has BB?

Patstopia, I understand your sentiment but you are wrong. This round has been lost. Brady and Yee and Brady's Family and Kraft can get out there and yell as loud as they can "this is wrong and unfair". They can say PSI this and context-less text message that. Guess what that gains? A handful of Patriot Nation feeling better, maybe a small percentage of people showing support or sympathy, and our side now married to these statements for the duration of this war. That's all it gains, nothing more. Everyone else will say or think the Wells Report and The NFL said you are guilty so you are guilty. Worse, once the return salvos start coming from our side there is a finite window to connect with the masses.

Do you want hastily prepared messages to get out ASAP so a small percentage of people can be sympathetic to Brady being guilty? Or do you want a team of experts to methodically go over and over the Wells Report and contracts and the other side's public statements to be sure our ultimate response is easy to understand, presented with maximum precision and something that is hard to assail?

Now we know why Putin never returned Krafty Bob's ring...his twin brother Roger told him to keep it...

Vladamir Goodellavitch...has a nice bloshevik ring to it, eh comrades?

He very much concerns me regarding the underpinnings of regaining past USSR glory as well as the Chicago in the 20s style intimidation government, however, some of his no BS, cut right to the chase statements I admire from a leader.
You don't have to guess with Putin, good or bad he often gives it to you right between the eyes.

I'm just saying...and I've been following this thread all day so I know the name of the thread has been the same all day...but what are the odds of calling it a train wreck...then have a major train wreck occur and be covered in the same day...that's just crazy coincidental

Wells was so incensed by Yee's 'shot across the bow' that he had to receive 'coaching' at the press conference. I can only guess it's another member of his legal team?

The smart man will tell you everything he knows. The wise man will listen.

Its on yahoo, I read some of it he's hanging his hat on the text from Brady saying you must be stressed, and some people wonder why Brady wouldn't turn his phone over. Looking forward to his sham report getting shredded.

Isn't that where Wells goes out on a limb and assumed the "he" they were talking about is Brady but the both said it was someone else and Wells didn't believe them?

The Wells report plastered text messages to the entire world that made McNally and Jastremski look like complete clowns even though they were probably just joking around. These two guys might be idiots, but they have been completely disgraced and their integrity completely shattered because they trusted Wells to give up their phones. Wells "assured" Brady that if he gave up his phone, everything would be safe - How did that work out for McNally and Jastremski who will be ridiculed for the rest of their lives?

Those were, if I understand correctly, Patriots-issued phones, so they had no choice but to turn them over.

Well as expected (I was hoping it'd be different...who was I kidding) the morning shows are all "Hail Ted Wells" for doing the interview...."the tone in his voice, the conviction of his statements shows us he is confident that the Pats are guilty!" Blah blah blah. Let's go get em TB & team!

If he is so confident why did he do it in the first place. Thou doth protest too much.

But ya so confident he was being fed lines and they stopped the conference abruptly. Guy gave Brady's lawyers enough rope to hang him with that conference.

"Direct evidence" and "NFL didnt take the colts complaint serious" have fun with that.

Being forceful and persuasive has no correlation to being right. In fact, it's usually those who have the weakest hands who yell the loudest
If the law is on your side, pound the law. If the Facts are on your side, pound the facts. If neither is on your side, pound the table. Wells was table pounding.

I wonder what the ESPN comment McNally made was about.

Maybe he saw Tom and Giselle getting...ahem "romantic" on the 50 yard line some midnight in the offseason when no-one else was supposed to be in the stadium.

Pretty far out there, I know. But my scenario has just as much "evidence" to support it as Wells does to support his assumption.

How the f*ck did this turn into a discussion on Putin? Can we keep the political crap in another forum and stay on point?

By the way, other lawyers on the site are invited to discuss the difference between direct and circumstantial evidence. One of you may even wish to give Mr. Wells a refresher on it:

direct evidence
n. real, tangible, or clear evidence of a fact, happening, or thing that requires no thinking or consideration to prove its existence, as compared to circumstantial evidence.

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Direct+Evidence

Circumstantial Evidence is also known as indirect evidence. It is distinguished from direct evidence, which, if believed, proves the existence of a particular fact without any inference or presumption required. Circumstantial evidence relates to a series of facts other than the particular fact sought to be proved. The party offering circumstantial evidence argues that this series of facts, by reason and experience, is so closely associated with the fact to be proved that the fact to be proved may be inferred simply from the existence of the circumstantial evidence.

That's alright, I had a law professor who tried telling me that even thinking about committing a crime (when no crime took place) is enough to put someone in jail. And he was a former Federal prosecutor.
