I heard the Pats initiated calls to other clubs n accepted the Packers as they stated their intent in picking Brett Hundley. Given That a multitude of upcoming picks were going to AFC East teams, BB wanted to keep Hundley out of the AFC east

That has a ring of truth to it

I think Belichick got the guy he wanted in the 5th round anyways. I think he values the 7th round picks as it basically gives him the pick of the litter of the UDFAs so nothing to scoff at
