I love how absolutely giddy Collinsworth is of the Kearse catch, that he laughs with glee
when he mentions Tyree and Manningham. Then the Butler catch and he sounds like all
the butt-hurt fans all over the country.
Have you noticed all the replays and game highlights and sound FX they've dubbed radio guys over them. The Patriots are down ten and here comes Brady then they cut to radio announcers giving the playback. They have to because those two idiots were just rambling about nonsense.I agree. I usually like Chris Collinsworth and Al Michaels, but they tanked the Super Bowl and went all in for Seattle - - it showed.
First:
He completely framed the discussion of the end of the game for the nation by immediately harping on the play call.
Never mind that:
1) In 2014, marshawn Lynch had 5 running attempts from the 1 yard line. TD's? 1.
2) Of 109 passing attempts from the 1 yard line in 2014, there was ONE (1) interception - - February 1, 2015, 10:37 pm EST- Malcolm Terel Butler
3) It was an incredible play by Butler. I would venture to guess that if someone asked Collinsworth about that play TODAY, he would probably express remorse about his on air handling of it - and would say that he truly did blow it by not adequately mentioning how it was one of NFL history's great clutch plays. He did mention after awhile that Butler made the "play of the year" but he had already buried it under his original play call comments.
Second:
The Patriots had the ball with something like 3:20 left in the game. It was a tense situation with them down by three points- - and there was a stoppage in play for some reason or another - - one would think that there was plenty about the game and situation to talk about. Michaels and Collinsworth decide THAT was the perfect time to start discussing Deflate Gate and what it means to the Patriost and their reputation. Now I fully get that it was (and is, until the Wells report comes out) the biggest intermediate term story for the NFL and its business - - but REALLY??? With 3:20 left in a SUPER BOWL that was teetering back and forth? What, pray-tell, could be the motivation for sticking that in there at that time. I imagine even 93 YEAR OLD NON-FANS IN NEBRASKA WITHOUT ANY ROOTING INTEREST were annoyed by that at that moment.
If I had one question to ask Collinsworth, who I said before is usually very good, is 'Was that YOUR idea to start that conversation at that point in time, or did that come from elsewhere?'.
I didn't understand Collinsworth's criticism of the Patriots during the fight at the end of the game.
"If you're Seattle, whatever. But if you're the Patriots, you don't throw a punch!"
Huh? The Patriots have the ball up by 4 points with 10 seconds left in the game and the other team is taking cheap shots. What harm can come from the Patriots standing up for themselves?
Just one parting shot at the Pats by Cris before they get handed the Lombardi
Much as Collingsworth is a tool, I took that comment of his to mean that the Pats don't want to take any risks with any unnecessary penalties at that point in the game.
Al Michaels called the play great. Could watch it over and over and over
Chris' tone made it clear that he was chiding the Patriots for their embarrassing behavior.

Some think Sherman was only calling out the score by Seattle, being 24 points.
