Danny Shelton is going to cost a lot to get him. Top 10 easily.
Maybe not top 10.

Star Lotulelei was a highly regarded DT and he went 14th overall a couple years ago.

I think the Pats are just doing their due diligence on some of these guys who are most likely going to be drafted way higher than 32… but if they drop to the 15-20 range the Pats might trade up.

Chicago's switching to the 3-4. That's a spot (7) to watch for Shelton.

I was watching a video of two Chicago beat writers trying to shoehorn their current front 7 defenders into a 3-4 defense. Never seen such a display of square blocks and round holes. It'll take them a while. Has Jared Allen ever played OLB?

Beleave he did at Kansas the first years, but more of a Ware type of 3-4 where he rushed more then 90% of the time. That sayed, Allen is a pros pro he can do it all to a above level.

You are probably right. Even so, currently they're projecting Stephen Paea or Jay Ratliff as a NT (will have to be a 1-gap 3-4), Lamar Houston probably plays RDE and Ego Ferguson as LDE. That's an undersize front 3, especially when their linebackers aren't exactly thumpers.

Anyway, I think Deus is right. Shelton would be a great fit for them.

Bears need more then 1 years draft on D to fix the issues, but they do have some Building Blocks, but that D was really getting old, so the timeing for a swap to 3-4 is pretty damn perfect.

Interesting that you ask. Allen has stated his opinion on this in the past, and he's not a fan of the idea. From back in 2011, while he was still with Minnesota:

"They've been so good to me here I don't think they would do it without talking to me," Allen said. "I want to end my career as a defensive end. And I'm not playing a 2-gap, let me just throw that out the window now.

"(Going to a 3-4) is something that will be addressed if and when it happens. I know that we have enough mutual respect for each other that they would at least give me a head's up and give me an option of what I would want to do. I don't see that in the future."
