I love it. :) He said the ball was intercepted, the player gave it to the Colts staff who deflated it and turned it in.

Some people thought it was significant that South Park made fun of the Patriots in 2007. If Letterman is going to joke about the Colts deflating the ball, then that should be enough proof, right? ;)

did you notice that BB said they should get Letterman to testify "next month" for the investigation. Does that mean they aren't investigating until next month? If this is so important to the integrity of the game. you'd think the Commish would push this to the top of the agenda.

Nah. He was only in a rush when he thought he was going to nail the Patriots. Now that it looks like the Patriots will not only be exonerated but that his "investigation" could show that it was the Colts who "cheated," it's mysteriously moved way down his priority list.

The most interesting thing that BB said on Letterman last night was that Dave should come along when the League interviews him "next month." We've all watched Belichick long enough to know that he never says anything by accident.

So, there are two ways I think you can read that remark.
One, he's tweaking the League for moving so slowly. (less likely)
Two, he actually knows that the focus of the investigation has moved away from the Patriots and in another direction. Whether that direction takes it toward the Colts or the Officials, we can't know. (more likely)

We also know that Letterman has never been a "lagging indicator" of public opinion. He's always been out front and acted as a "leading indicator" of where people are. He might sound spontaneous but, like BB, he doesn't say much that he hasn't carefully planned to say or that hasn't been scripted for him.

I think Letterman either knows or has a very strong feeling that he is "on to something" when he jokes that the Colts deflated the ball. Remember he was born, raised, went to school and had his first TV job in Indianapolis and Indiana. His roots there are deep. I think the odds are very high that he knows what's really going on.

Let's face it, if you're someone who is plugged in to what's happening in Indy and you want to suck up to someone, you ain't sucking up to a no-name, tweeter-crazed, one-hit-wonder, faux-journalist like Kravitz. You're sucking up to the guy who's an icon and an institution in television.

I think someone tipped Letterman and I think there is absolutely no accident that Kravitz' ******** "apology" virtually coincided with Belichick's appearance on The Late Show.

I think I'd be very uncomfortable right now if I were a member of the Colts organization in the "line of command" that day. Their fans are very nervous, if you visit their board.

I would bet my next month's home payment that Kraft has turned the heat up behind the scenes and that he's enlisted other owners who have no time for Irsay. Watch the presentation ceremony. He glares at Goodell throughout the Commissioner's remarks and then makes an "in your face" acceptance speech that actually mentions the 45-7 final score of the AFCCG. Goodell is gone from that stage within seconds of the presentation.

I posted something similar in another thread.

I wish you were right, but I do not share your optimism. The interview with Rapoport today raises my concern that this is headed towards a hung jury, let's all throw our hands up ending by the league. Which would be a chickenshit move, but not at all uncharacteristic. The Patriots got killed by the media for two weeks, while the NFL twiddled its thumbs and allowed speculation to run rampant. What harm did it do the NFL? Oh, that's right - none, the game was only the most watched program of all-time.

What Rap said about needing to track down the player(s) to interview rings true. Brady is probably in Brazil or Costa Rica right now. I'm not sure who else they have to interview, but I doubt they have talked to TB12 or will anytime soon. They can't conclude the investigation until then.

Nice, two things I'm looking forward to looking into. After that offside play by the Seahawks I had moved on to cigars and shots, so I missed the acceptance speech!

That's the sort of thing that I usually post. So, that means you're a smart guy. But, in this case I think things will not end up that way because Kraft is putting the heat on behind the scenes.

Maybe you are right, but I keep going back to how Kraft looked at Goodell during the presentation ceremony. His eyes were shooting daggers at him. His speech, referencing the 45-7 AFCCG outcome was uncharacteristically "in your face." Goodell is off the stage in a nanosecond. Kraft didn't attend Goodell's party the night before the SB. Kraft is a man on a mission and I think he wants blood.

Well I do hope you're right, and I agree with this point. What transpired that week truly struck a nerve with Kraft. We'd been asking for him to take a side all week, and he did, as firmly as we could've wanted and then some.
