Ian Rapoport is reporting that someone from the Colts made the accusation. I can't say I'm surprised, and quite frankly it chops down whatever legs this story had.

An official didn't suspect anything, nor was any quantitative measurement made. There is absolutely no "proof" of anything at this point. Someone (likely Irsay) cried foul and the league has no choice but to investigate. More-or-less what has been said in this thread to this point.

I'd expect this thing to wrap up in 3-5 days and our Pats be cleared of any wrongdoing.

how does this not surprise me.

classless organization

Every time we win it seems someone whether in the league or not has some kind of cheating accusation. The thing that I do not like is that this trend is so acceptable that it is the new lob it up and see if you can get a dpi call. Because there is no consequence for flat out lying.....about the Pats.

Bob Kravitz was talking about his "source" like it was someone he knew very well. So it's not surprising that it was indeed from the Colts organization. Irsay?

Guessing this won't end well for the Colts. Hell hath no fury like a Belichick scorned.

And, yeah, Rap thought it would be a few days.

I was watching NFL Network and Warren Sapp was telling a story of how Brad Johnson used pine tar and hid it under his pouch so he can have a better grip.

For the most part, most of the ex-players I've heard on the radio or seen on TV have laughed at this allegation as nothing more than sore loser mentality.

Could have been that prick Pep Hamilton, he made some comments last year that he had to, unsuccessfully, walk back.

Funny, none of these Ian Rapaport statements are making it to twitter. Its like the media is ignoring the things that DON'T go along with their storyline.

However, I do wish Ian would post a couple of these himself.

I'm po'd at Mr. Kraft right now.

His modus operandi with these things is spineless.

I'm not saying the Patriots are guilty or innocent in this. I have no idea.

But for this owner to accept a cloud hanging over his franchise and, yes it's fans, while the NFL decides to play stonewall for the next several weeks for an investigation that is so particular and limited in scope that it could be resolved in 6 hours is callous to those who support the New England Patriots.

He should tell the NFL to **** or get off the pot. Kicking this can down the road for another several weeks only keeps a cloud that is probably undeserved over the entire franchise.

Bob Kraft is allowing the Jim Romes, the Tomases, the easterbrookes and Patriotsevens of this world to paint the picture and create the reality.

Mr. Kraft: WE shouldn't have to be dealing with this, YOU come out of the cave and deal with it. Stop worrying about being a "traitor to your class" and fight for your fans for once.

Kraft is doing the right thing staying silent.

Why legitimize these ridiculous accusations by denying them? Once you start down that slippery slope every headset that suddenly quits or half baked conspiracy will warrant some sort of rebuttal by the Patriots.

Worked awesomely well in 2007!

Yup, never had to hear about that one again.

Kraft needs to tell the Commish to get his guys investigate and make a statement asap. It's us fans that are suffering the most.

What exactly did Rapoport report? Just that the Colts made the accusation? Or also what you said about the official not suspecting anything nor any quantitative measurement made?

Yeah, alleged taping walkthroughs of the Super Bowl opponent and a deflated football are equal.

NOT

Wait one ball? All they took is one ball to investigate and this stupid **** got blown up for no reason.

They want to talk about balls, I got a pair of grandes cojones that need to be drain because my wife too damn busy playing warcraft. Come investigate these baby!

I expect the NFL will announce something like, all gameballs were inspected pregame, the Colts made a complaint about them and as a result the NFL took 1 ball for examination. It was found unaltered from the examination. I think the NFL has to say what prompted them to look. I suspect it was the Colts and the Colts had Kravitz malign the Patriots. This all reminds me of the accusation made against Edleman years ago. Thank god for that video but even being proven it was a false accusation, I still see people bring up this accusation.

Screw the tuck, where would Ray Lewis be now if the bloody white suit he wore did not disappear?

While they definitely aren't equal Triumph, the court of public opinion has already judged the Patriots on this one and found them guilty. I agree that a speedy explanation would be more than appropriate.

After all, this is the 2nd time that we've had to endure this kind of ******** after winning the AFCCG while preparing for the SB. This should be a joyous time in Patriot nation, not a distraction that is unfounded.

If anything, Goodell should at least step up and offer some kind of reasonable explanation as to what is taking place, instead of allowing every 9.9 out of 10 people to come to their own opinion.

Since this came from the second rate Colts, all this is going to do is make Bill want to embarrass the Colts even harder next season

Game balls are subjected to 3-6 or more months of manual break-in period by team employees whose job it is to make them feel like 10 year old balls, according to the Eli Manning article. It's not doubtful one of those could develop a leak that's not detectable until some hours after being inflated properly (by rule, kicking balls are inflated 2.5 hours before kickoff, and if the game balls are checked as well, that gives every leak 5-6 hours to show its presence during the game).

Further facts: both teams provide the balls, deflated balls help the passing attack, and the only way for Colts to stay in the game would be to throw half a dozen Flacco bombs, while the Patriots used a running game aided by short passes.

The Colts coach denied any issues with the ball after the game.

Based on all of this information, we can conclude the NFL is investigating the Colts organization.

The "leak" is a Colts writer making a story for himself. It's strange that a Colts writer would jump to a conclusion about which team is involved unless he's starting an angry rumor. He even said that a "deflated ball would hurt the passing attack," another thing he made up to further his point. An objective writer would have more than one source, and would not spread mis-information about CameraGate (earlier today, he said that the NFL found the Patriots guilty of taping walk-throughs & practices years ago, which is not true.)

So we are in agreement this is Irsay back on the booze looking for an excuse for the asskicking we gave his team in the post season again? I knew this morning when I read it was from Kravitz it was gonna be a hack job and it looks like it was. Too bad we can't talk about the Seattle match up we have to deal with this crap.
