ABC News: Did Divine Intervention Help Tom Brady Sunday Night?

Not open for further replies.
Actually it's far more easy to explain what happened, I wore my Patriots lucky hat that I use when we need a comeback from the kick off until the end of the game so it was actually a intervention provided by me.
Yes. I wore mine as well. And my lucky Bruschi Jersey. Thankfully I didn't have to break out super lucky Faulk jersey. That's only for desperation. ...and no, I didn't break it out for the KC game. It could've been my fault...

well, John Tomase supposedly is FROM here...didn't stop him from LYING in print the week before the 2007 Super Bowl. Face it, I am a jaundiced fan with a finely developed hatred for the sports press as its currently constituted in this country. Lying, jealous ,venal, hate filled Dilfers and Silvers and Easterbrooks run wild with their big mouths...unchallenged and encouraged, actually, by the current regime "leading" the NFL.
LOL, I'm with ya! Muir's only saving grace is he's a news reporter, rather than a sports reporter. But, I think my history here of *****ing on sports media places me in accordance with your thoughts. My wife actually thinks I'm obsessed with the topic and, as usual, she's likely right. But, I don't give a s***. I despise all but a small handful, and even they piss me off sometimes.

My theory on why I'm such a nice guy in real life and such a cantankerous jerk and xenophobe in regards to one specific area of life, to wit, my fandom for the NEP, is that I get all the pent up rage, animosity, blind disgust and contempt for these sports constructs out of my conscious and subconscious mind, which allows me to be gregarious, charitable and good spirited for the most part in my day to day real life.

I still have a major problem however, that I'm finding hard to solve...and that's the cell phone to the ear while driving 35 in the outside lane of RT 95 because the "thing with no brain cells" can't do two things at once...cannot stop the blind, honking wildly, rage monster "it" induces.

Horse poop.

I switched from Yuengling to Blue Moon. THAT'S what did it.

I watched on the small TV in the bedroom instead of on the big screen in the family room, which seems to bring bad luck. That is what did it.

I didn't wear my Faulk throwback jersey.

I wore it for the Miami game, the Oakland game, and the KC game. No more.

That's the reason.

You're welcome.

I wore my lucky Brady throwback vs my cursed Superbowl jersey from the catch.
I also wore my patriots fleece and recorded the game we always win when I do that and wear my team colored boxers.

I made deep dish last week, switched to margarita pizza this week. Will never make deep dish on gabe day again...

I don't know if it was divine intervention or not. However, I believe in God and I believe he has a plan for everyone though. I believe everyone gets their talent from God and that he created us all. Considering Tom and his family our Catholic, I don't think they would be insulted by such a statement QB12. Overall, I am always happy to see Tom Brady win.

Great thread QB12, I know after speaking with you in the past via pm you are another fellow Christian on the board which is refreshing. I hope all is well with you and your family. Nevertheless, this is an interesting thread topic and some good food for thought.

I wore my '04 Red Sox World Series Champs t-shirt. Channeled some of that curse-breaking energy. You guys can go ahead and thank me now.

a sometimes dangerous OT veer but humor me...

IF...God exists...THEN ...it is quite presumptuous for any manifestation of HIS will to believe in HIS existence.

(and I use the masculine "HIS" to describe that which is unknowable, an obvious limitation when delving into the esoteric)

I don't know if it was divine intervention or not. Nevertheless, this is an interesting thread topic and some good food for thought.

Yeah. Divine intervention. That's what it was.
No it's not.

Catholics are all going to hell and you know it. No way the imaginary sky god would do them a favor. Or maybe it's a setup. Hmmmmm.

so...a New York jerk babbling head (probably a scummy Rat fan) tries to disparage Brady by insinuating he needs God's help to win a game? Have a nice long trip DOWN to Infernal Regions, Omaha, doo shebag.
Please calm down.

At least you know the Devil has cursed the New Jersey Swamp Rats ...... oops I mean Jets.

Sancheeeeeeese .... unlimited ceiling

Geeeeee-NOOOOOOOOOO! .... can't read time or defenses

"Divine Intervention" is a funny nickname for Bill Belichick...

I still have a major problem however, that I'm finding hard to solve...and that's the cell phone to the ear while driving 35 in the outside lane of RT 95 because the "thing with no brain cells" can't do two things at once...cannot stop the blind, honking wildly, rage monster "it" induces.

It's not as bad as people who slack hard on going through a green light. There's five minute lights in my area that only like three cars get through because everyone drives through it at 1 MPH (after starting 10 seconds late) and don't accelerate until they're through the intersection. Day after day after day.

WTF, people. It's a green light. Go.

Florio: DID BRADY GET OUTSIDE HELP ON SUNDAY NIGHT?
****, alright see you guys next year. I'm headed back to the drawing board this post wins 2014.

I've never seen God and Tom Brady in the same room. Coincidence? Just saying..

Yeah. Divine intervention. That's what it was.
No it's not.

Catholics are all going to hell and you know it. No way the imaginary sky god would do them a favor. Or maybe it's a setup. Hmmmmm.

I never said what you are claiming I know in regards to Catholics. So please don't claim to know what I know in regards to Catholics.

Excerpt from this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholicism
"Many individual Christians and Christian denominations consider themselves "catholic" on the basis, in particular, of apostolic succession."

Brady and his family do believe in God. Thus, not only is he a great QB, but also a believer in God. I like Tom Brady and wish him and his family nothing but the best.

Now whether or not you or anyonelse believes in God is up to each individual person. Based on your post stating "the imaginary sky god". I can only interpret that as, YOU don't believe in God. Now that is your right to believe or not believe in God. All I ask is that you don't infringe on my right to believe in God and please don't claim to know what I know or feel in regards to catholics.

You stated that you don't feel this thread is interesting? Well NO one has forced you to come into this thread and discuss the topic. Nor did I say anything negative about Catholics. I come from a huge family with a few who considers themselves Catholics.

I never even called upon you by username until you quoted me. Nevertheless, Larryo if you don't believe in God that's fine. Again all I ask is just don't infringe on my right to believe in God and don't make accusations like I am condemning anyone because I am certainly not.

Some people in the United States DO believe in God and some people in the United States DO NOT believe in God. That what makes America great, freedom to believe or not to believe.

If you look on that U.S money you and others carry around in their pockets it says "in God we Trust".

I am going to quote supafly who is well known on this board and is a catholic. Supa posted this in another thread.
"For the record, as I've stated before, I am a confirmed Catholic--so we share the same kind of similar Christian beliefs, although I am not as open as you are about those beliefs."

I am going to quote mgteich who posted this exact quote in another thread

"Most players pray together before each game. I doubt that very many would be at all upset at ccat's comment: After that it is in God's hands to make sure all the players are in good enough health to perform at their best.

then mgteich continues with his thoughts below
In any case, our society and we as individuals are in serious trouble if the mere use mention of the word God is a flashpoint.
Shall we stop saying God Bless You when we sneeze. Shall we remove "In God We Trust"? Should we stop installing government officials with a bible?
I apologize for the rant, but the mere use of the word of "God" in a sentence shouldn't be objectionable anywhere in the US."

Nevertheless, this is an interesting thread topic and some good food for thought.

Coming from a Pentecostal background, though perhaps I've grown too cynical, I find the pervasive mentions of God in the NFL bordering on the perverse. Being known by their works it is possible to form an opinion as to the people who are truly devout and those who are merely giving lip service to a deity belied by their self-aggrandizing or night-club murdering ways.

I can't pretend I can plumb the depths of a person's soul, but the idea that prayer is in anyway involved with the outcome of a billion dollar sports product bugs the **** out of me. In 2011 when the Patriots played the Broncos and Matthew Slater prayed really hard and Tim Tebow prayed really hard it's absurd to think that there was some sort of decision made by a higher power based on those prayers like it was a rap battle.

I guess I don't mind players expressing their faith be it in touchdown celebrations, or speeches or what have you. But when I feel like that faith is being wrapped up in a commercial product, like a Walmart-NFL-American flag bundle that's when I feel that it's become pandering that I'd say is somewhere between gauche and immoral.
