It was already a matter of time: Brady trade talk has begun

Heres's another report from Mortensen:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ges-to-patriots-personnel-and-coaching-staff/

Per Mortensen, Brady is “uncomfortable” with some of the changes to personnel and the coaching staff and that he has seen his level of input into the offense — things like game planning, pre-snap adjustments and personnel packages — drop of late. There’s no question that the Patriots have failed to find receivers talented enough to help Brady over the last couple of years and their offensive line, which saw guard Logan Mankins depart in a trade just before the start of the season, has been a mess this year, the first without the now-retired Dante Scarnecchia coaching the group. The shortcomings in those two groups come after the Pats used a second-round pick to take a backup quarterback a few years after doing the same with a third-round selection.

don't blame him.bill is destroying the team.
and tom will get all of the blame. not his fault that he's surrounded by poor lineman and receivers who can't separate from cb's besides edelman

If we're under .500 before the trade deadline, Brady deserves a chance to compete for the SB. The Cardinals are undefeated and have one of the strongest rosters in the NFL, and their QB can't recover from nerve damage. Brady would take that team to the #1 seed and the SB.

Brady's done enough for this franchise to deserve that chance to win another SB. Do we really want to see him murdered by a sieve OL and maybe the worst WR core in the NFL?*

* This is all predicated on if nothing changes soon with our team and we
stay mediocre.

Yes, aware of the 2015 cap hit if traded.

Wouldn't chock me if he's frustrated. He knows NFL history. He knows that even if he wants to play until he is 45, history says that it's very unlikely he will play that long. So for him he can't really have a team with an off year. Can't count on "We'll be better next season". He probably sees every season in a last season of his career kind of way. Not that he wants to retire. But that he knows that it can end at any moment and that at his age, a next season is not guaranteed.

About the only thing in that article that goes beyond "People are upset when they aren't succeeding on the field" is the claim that the game plan has less input from Brady than it used to.

I find that hard to believe.

I would find much easier to believe the lesser claim that, of the people with significant input into the game plan, he's been on a little losing streak with respect to whose input wins out in the final decision.

It's now or never. The cap hit of $18M for next year is sunk cost. Everything get guaranteed if Brady ins't traded. That being said, it is very unlikely that it will happen.

I can also see the Texans being another team immediately helped by him.

What the?

Pre-snap adjustments? So i'm expected to believe that Belichick has told Brady he is not allowed to make pre-snap adjustments. GTFO my face with that.

Actually, I think it is a $5 million increase over his current salary. But that would be the same cap hit whether if he trades him this year or next.

I can't see them trading him this year unless the Pats lose the next three games in convincing fashion and the year looks over and they think Garoppolo is the answer. Unfortunately, the last part is very much an enigma.

I think the media is going overboard this week though. I think there is a lot of people in the media who have been waiting forever to take shots at Belichick and the Pats. If anyone listened to Greg Doyel's (CBS sports) interview on 98.5 on Friday night will see that there is a lot of hate for Belichick in the media.

Understandable on many levels, whether the article is true or false. Anybody, especially one at Brady's stage, would be upset. The window is almost a peep hole at this point. I'm not going to get into the argument of whether or not I feel they've done enough to surround Brady with talent. I'm simply going to say that I believe this team can play better as assembled. This, IMHO, is NOT a 2-2 team when you consider everything from top-to-bottom.

Unfortunately, they are struggling in two of the most crucial units on the field - O and D-Line. You will not win many games in the league, and especially the ones that count, if you do not perform in the trenches. That is one of the football facts that has stood the test of time and rule changes.

I hope they win this game tonight convincingly because if not this BS is going to get a lot worse :/

it's going to be hell all week if we lost tonight. tons of rumors/********..

tom should stay. and if he does leave, go to houston.

I blame both at this point. Brady is playing like crap this year and it isn't all the people around him. It may or may not be Belichick's fault Brady is in this funk, but even when he has time and receivers opened he is making bad throws and decisions. He has been part of the problem rather than the solution. He low on the blame totem pole, but he deserves a fair share of the blame.

People always say if we trade Brady to so and so etc he would instantly put them over the top and I truly don't think so. I love Brady but have you actually watched the Cardinals or the 49ers pass blocking. Just last week I watched Alex Boone impersonate Jordan Devey multiple times only to have Kappernik evade the rush in a way that is flat out impossible for Brady. Same thing with the Cardinals. Their line is playing okay now but for the last few years it was definitely just as bad as ours is right now. I would be curious to see how Brady's deep ball would look throwing to Fitz and Floyd though. Dante Scharnechia and Brady was the perfect combo.

Hopefully things will get better and put this trade talk to rest.
