Greg Bedard is going to have some good OL talk on 98.5 from 2-4 Tues 9/23

I heard a good bit of Bedard's segment. There were allusions to Bedard not being happy with the way the show went last week (didn't heart that one), so I'm inferring that he's not interested in competing for air time. If the two cement head hosts would just shut up, you'd have two hours of must listen radio. Bedard is level-headed and his commentary is well thought out . The lack of an idiotic sensationalist agenda is a breath of fresh air and that's putting it mildly.

At this point I seriously wonder why he isn't just doing a MMQB branded podcast. There he would have completely creative control over what he talks about. I can't imagine that there is so much more money if he continues with Beavis And Butthead.

Which proves you do not understand the defense.

What? Easley does not drop into zone. A DL playing 75% of the snaps is of course a good value if he plays them well.

He can be equally disruptive playing over a T as he can playing over a G. In our 34 he would be playing only on the strongside, with either Jones or Nink outside of him. Of course his strengths would be effective there. He is not here primarily to defend the run, he is here primarily to rush the passer.

You're seriously trying to make the claim Easley can be just as effective playing the 5 as he would be playing the 3? In today's NFL, penetration up the middle is the biggest disrupter to offenses (passing or rushing). I assumed this was why he was brought in as we have repeatedly seen what happens to our offense when defenses get disruption inside. He would not be nearly as effective on the outside.

Whatever personnel problems we have on the team, it's not in the starting DL and LBs. The backups are shaky, which as noted frequently has scary possible implications for Jones' and Ninkovich's durability and freshness. But the starters (and that includes the sub-package "starters") are hardly a big problem.

Ok, I've got to run. Someone else will have to do the passing on of Bedard's comments for a while. I hope this was helpful for some of you, and I appreciate the thanks I received from a poster earlier.

Thanks which I (reading it much later) echo. :)

beetle sounds like he wants brady traded for his well being from being hit so much....yeah..

It's to bad he's not on 2 or 4 hours earlier or if it had to b 2pm, another station

I agree for the most part, with the exception of Collins. I can't stand the fact we used a 2nd on this guy. However, I am amazed at the difference in Hightower. He seems to be everywhere on the field. He's shown up significantly in every game.

He said rumor is that Degluglielmo is not a popular guy between the players and Mankins refusing the pay cut may have to be related with this, like, "I don't wanna work with this guy".
Here we go. The scapegoating has begun. So, if true (big if) Mankins in essence wanted to be traded.

Thinks they've let the playbook get too dense, and it's a big problem

McDaniels is the 2nd smartest guy in the building, next to Bill. Is a great O.C.
I have wondered that myself lately about our offense. They seem to try too many things and everything needs to be perfect for it to work.

I don't think Bedard likes to get involved in all the Belichick bashing stuff like jokes about Devey being a tuba player or that Gooch was a radio talk show host or all the "cap is crap stuff".

I really like Bedard, but he is a bad fit for the show especially with Mazz who seems to want to make a mockery of Bedard's time. Bedard is better suited for a show like either Gresh and Zo or Dale and Holley that is more sports and less "entertainment". I think Bedard is too straight laced and worried about his reputation as an analyst to get into some of the crap that especially Mazz does.

I hope that Felger and Mazz gets it and realize that Pats fans want to listen to Bedard and they don't need the schtick.

They won't.

Look at the remaining schedule, the OL is going to get tested heavily every week the entire season, they better improve quickly, or hope that Stork and Fleming can contribute and get rid of Devey. The strength of the other three teams in the division is matched up against the Patriots biggest weakness.

There's already one socialized NFL team and I don't recall Michael Sam playing for the Packers or Aaron Rodgers being cut for expressing a political opinion different than the majority opinion of the city of Green Bay.

Read the Packers wikipedia entry. (1) They are a private, not-for-profit corporation. (2) Due to a 1000:1 dilution, they are controlled by the 1950s shareholders.

Sorry, but they're controlled neither by the government apparatchiks you worship nor by "the city of Green Bay".

What is muckracking? sounds filthy...does it have something to do with tee ta's and mud pits? and why would anyone want a salad instead?

Bertrand shOuld have a salad instead of muckracking.....
That would be a great discussion on a weight loss forum. This is sports forum so we talk about football not diet plans here..o_O

Calling it a corporation isn't really telling the whole story, because it implies that there's capital value to the investors. The 1950s shareholders are or were season ticket holders from Green Bay (perhaps I should have said the local community of Green Bay) and there's no financial enhancement for even those shareholders - shares don't generate equity and can't be sold. Profits above expenses for personnel and facilities are funneled into local Green Bay charities. It's not held by the municipal government, but it can never leave the city and there is no financial gain for anyone involved. The Packers are only a "not-for-profit corporation" in the broadest sense of the term regarding the tax code.

You could have 32 teams owned like the Packers by the public, and you would end up with a respectable commissioner because there would be no profit motive from the people appointing said commissioner. The commissioner would do what was best for the game rather than what was best for the owners.
