#FireGoodell is trending on Twitter

Hopefully the American Cancer Society decides they want no proceeds from the NFL's breast cancer awareness month because of this mess.

All that pink stuff sold NFL keeps 90% of the proceeds and only 10% goes to the American Cancer Society.

Just another one of Goodell's shams.

You would be surprised to find that you actually overestimated how much really goes to Cancer research. The answer is only 8%. That's right, only EIGHT percent.

So you are in favor of a charity designed to fight a horrible disease giving away money because you dont understand how donating a portion of proceeds works?
Thank God you aren't making decisions for the American Cancer Society.

In this case yes.

Took this whole situation for him to crack down on domestic violence against women and it's only because there was video.

Where's Greg Hardy's indefinite suspension? He was convicted of assaulting a female.

NFL: For 92% of the revenue of selling pink stuff we'll care about breast cancer. But domestic violence against women we really didn't care about that until the whole world saw a player dragging his wife from an elevator after he knocked her out.

First let me say. RAY RICE IS A PIECE OF ****. Period. No doubt about it. Also, Goodel is a moron for all the lying. Fact of the matter is, he should of just stood by his original decision. MLB and the NBA don't even HAVE domestic abuse policies.

It's pretty sad that absolutely NO ONE cared (especially all these talking heads and "righteous" fans who are all up in arms now) about the Ray Rice case back when it happened last winter and all the details were clearly laid out. We already know what he did, the video didn't shed any new light. The NFL didn't do anything because the public wasn't offended by it.

ESPN is only covering now because they have a video that can be played and drive up ratings. They don't give a **** about morals. Did anyone mention Big Ben last night? Or Terrel Suggs, who punched his wife in the neck and poured bleach over her and their new born baby? Do people forget about Jamies Winston? Does anyone care anymore? Nope. ESPN is milking this for ratings, just like they did SpyGate. (Obviously two TOTALLY different situations, but the trend is the same). This is the SAME ESPN who had ****in Chris Brown featured in a comedy skit in their last award show. ESPN does -NOT GIVE A ****- about true moral integrity.

The outrage here is really so phony to me. Penn State basically got off with a slap on the wrist for OVER A DECADE OF ENABLING CHILD RAPE and no one cares anymore. I'm not fan of Roger Goodell, but this actually has become a media-driven witchhunt. These hypocrites on TV make me sick.

A) ESPN is ESPN, what do you expect? Why would you /ever/ expect them to do anything genuine under any circumstances whatsoever.

B) /Others/ most certainly did care back when this happened. Thus the outcry that forced Goodell to announce a sweeping reform of the domestic violence policies (not that they seemed to have ANY policy before this)

C) People also cared about Penn State and still do and there has been substantial objection to the NCAA's recent action.

The point is, you don't look to ESPN for moral guidance in ANYTHING. But just because they've noticed this situation and are milking it for ratings doesn't mean that the situation is somehow magically an invalid one to care about.

Can you explain? Sorry, I missed the game, but I am curious what you mean here.

I don't see why he should get fired look the NFL was not hiding this video from the law they were hiding it from us because that's with rice and his wife wanted, when was the last time a employer hand it out the full punishment to a employee for domestic abuse ? its the job of the local police to do that and why did the hotel that he hit her in not do more they should be more under fire then the NFL.

the police have the video the lawyers have the video the hotel sure as hell had the video. but yet we want Goodell to step down because it was not him who made this violent video public the sad part is the real reason everyone wants him to step down is cause he changed game so 300lbs men don't hit each other in the head and get brain damage at 35 years old. if not for some of the safety changes he made to the game players like Brady Manning and bress would have to retire by now

Thank you Jane Skinner.

The NFL, with Goodell as the front man, fought scientists studying concussions and CTE at every turn then fought a court battle so they could suppress any evidence about the extent of brain damage related to playing football. All the changes for "player safety" were piddly PR stunts that were at best designed to protect "players like Brady, Manning, and Brees" because star quarterbacks are good for business.

Many of the rules do nothing or next to nothing to protect damage to a player's long-term health and well-being, and even the ones that do are enforced haphazardly - look at the lack of a 15 yard flag when Antonio Brown was crushed as a defenseless receiver last night, while Mike Mitchell got flagged for what I thought was a legal (and not particularly dangerous) hit.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-suspension-necessary-and-potentially-useful/

After a week of conflicting reports and comments and off-the-record quotes regarding whether Rice lied to the Commissioner, the Commissioner has informed Rice that he essentially lied to the Commissioner. But Rice hasn’t been suspended for lying to the Commissioner; Rice has been suspended a second time for something the NFL knew or should have known Rice did.

For that reason alone, the NFLPA must file a grievance appealing the NFL’s effort to suspend Rice a second time for the same conduct. The NFL had the information, or easily could have gotten the information, necessary for concluding that Rice did what the video shows he did — Rice struck Janay Palmer Rice and knocked her out.

I don't get it. How else is the defender supposed to hit him? Was this unnecessary roughness? Blow to a defenseless receiver? Excessive physicality in making a tackle?

They threw a flag for defenseless receiver.

The next step is 2 hand touch.

Greg Hardy still being on the field after being CONVICTED of domestic violence is the straw that is going to break Godells back.
There's no video of that incident so there's no ratings to be gained so there's self-righteous moralistic outrage from ESPN and, subsequently, the fanbase.

The NFL is in a no-win situation. If they act before letting the legal process play out, they are accused of being too strict and punishing players who may be innocent. But if they wait for the legal process to play out, they get criticized by people who say they should suspend a guy right away. In the Greg Hardy case, a judge found Hardy guilty in a bench trial, he has appealed and will be granted a trial by jury so the legal process has not played out.

Hopefully the American Cancer Society decides they want no proceeds from the NFL's breast cancer awareness month because of this mess.

All that pink stuff sold NFL keeps 90% of the proceeds and only 10% goes to the American Cancer Society.

Just another one of Goodell's shams.
This particular sham is hardly unique to the NFL. All those retail products where some company slaps a pink ribbon on their label do the same thing. It's one of the biggest scams running. The ACS is a willing participant because they get millions of dollars they wouldn't otherwise get, and the retail companies get to jack up the prices of their goods

I threw a fit and turned it off after Upshaw's hit on Big Ben. Glad to see I was justified in doing so. Again, that's ****yball. That's not football. If defenders are going to be flagged for that, they might as well just start going helmet to helmet to try to inflict injury/knock the opposing WR out of the game. At least make the flag worth it.

This part baffles me as well. People are acting like the NFL had the video (like it was shot in some stadium or something) and then hid it from the authorities.

All this outrage du jour comes down to nothing more than the fact that the NFL gave Ray Rice a 2 game suspension when they should have given him 4 or 6.
