And now the Chiefs have released CB Brandon Flowers -- rough day for veteran CBs.

After discussing a possible trade of CB Brandon Flowers, the @KCChiefs announce they’ve released him. He was due $5.25M in 2014.

Chris Houston of the Lions was also just released.

What happened to Flowers? So uhh, can he play safety? :D

Whoa...umm...I thought Flowers was pretty good.

Marcus Cooper and Cap savings of $7.5m this year and $7.5m next year (or so I read) is what happened to Brandon Flowers.

Also it's been widely reported that he doesn't fit Sutton's scheme.

Expensive, undersized CB who's in decline. He seemed to go completely in the tank after Welker made him his ***** last year, and everyone was able to exploit him. I thought the Chiefs would keep him for one more year, for cap reasons, but I guess they decided that they'd seen enough.

It's the cap hit that's done for him, pretty much.

I suspect that Jerry Jones will be on the horn with Mr. Flowers.

Ok, for those of us who saw Flowers losing it last season, here's a "never gonna happen" question:

Sign Flowers and Move Ryan to safety?

Flowers was not a scheme fit for the defense Andy Reid was running. He could be a steal for a team who is looking for an one year guy because Flowers is likely going to want an one year prove it deal. Doubtful he is going to like the offers he is going to get for a longer term deal.

I am not convinced he has lost it. I think it may be a case of trying to put a square peg in a round hole in Reid's defense. I just hope the Jets don't sign him and make him productive. Although the reason why he sucks is because he is a very good zone coverage CB, but sucks at press man.

Even though I have my concerns with that safety duo's ability to come up and take on the run, I would do that in a second if the money is right. But Flowers would be battling for the dime back spot on our depth chart with Arrington. I have a feeling that he still thinks he can start. I expect teams that need secondary help badly to be calling him. That's why I mentioned the Cowboys, though their cap situation may make that difficult if he's still looking to be paid like a top CB.

I hear you. I'm thinking ATL might look at him, too. Pioli's over there, after all.

He was expensive and played on a bum knee last year. I think someone will grab him and rehabilitate him. Don't think it makes much sense for the Patriots.

I agree with Rotoworld who predicts Flowers will end up in Houston. He has a relationship with Crennel and fits into Crennel's zone coverages.

I don't know how good he is now, but I'd rather see him go to an NFC team. I'd rather not have a team that we face in direct competition receive an eleventh-hour missing-piece-to-the-defense type of player.

Sign him, make the greatest secondary in the NFL even greater

He'll be a Jet

Although I said I was worried the Jets would sign him and make him productive again, he was cut by the Chiefs because he struggled as a press cover corner. He seems like a bad fit for the Jets since they play almost exclusively press coverage.

Cooper got embarrassed by Decker so much that I felt sorry for him last year. 4 TD's and a few PI as well if I'm remembering correctly.

The money is what happened, the Cooper is a throwaway.

He was a throw away that was fifth in the NFL with 19 pass defensed, someone can throw him this way.
