How do you guys see the wide receiver and tightend depth chart playing out? Who do you think makes the cuts and who is the odd man out? And do you forsee Mark Harrison either on the roster as a receiver, tightend or not at all?

I do not see Harrison or Thompkins on the 53 man roster. I don't see Gallon either, but he has a better chance than they do.

Gallon will make this team, you can take that to the bank. Gallon is the real deal, an accomplished receiver.

Edelman
LaFell
Dobson
Amendola
Boyce
Gallon (Amendola's insurance and eventual replacement next year)

(And no I didn't forget Slater. Just think he should be listed under ST)

Gronk
Keller
Hoomanawanui

I know he isn't signed but my guess is the comp pick thing may be in play here and there is an agreement but it won't officially be signed until after June 1st.

WR
Edelman
Dobson
LaFell
Amendola
Boyce
Harrison
Slater

TE
Gronkowski
Hoomanawanui
Williams

I would not sleep on DJ Williams, he is extremely talented, he was buried in Green Bay behind an abundance of talent, then went on to Jacksonville.

Gallon is a great practice squad candidate. Thompkins will likely end up on PUP with some type of injury…o_O

The only locks I see at WR/TE are Edelman, Dobson and Gronk with camp competition determining the rest.

Brandon LaFell is a fine player; he is the best blocking WR in the NFL and was very productive in a run first offense playing a secondary role to Steve Smith. He is a lock in my opinion. I think that Gallon would have to come into camp and dominate in order to beat out Danny Amendola; I see that as unlikely so I would consider Amendola a lock as well.

At this point, Amendola and LaFell are atop my next grouping as well. Not locks, however, as I define a lock as a player who I would be shocked if they are cut. I would not be shocked if either Amendola or LaFell are cut when all is said and done.

Lafell has size, he's definitely a lock, even without a good tc, we can't go to another season having only Gronk as a big target, we are lacking size in the end zone.

I don't doubt Lafell playing the move tight end role, with Amêndola in the slot and Edelman and Dobson open.

without gronk, we have the worst tight end situation...

should of taken someone in the draft.

We can decide after season whether we would have been better of with ASJ or better with Easley. After our first pick, it is doubtful that Belichick rated any of the players as better prospects than Hooman and Williams, and certainly not better than Keller.

ASJ would have been a fine addition, an upgrade of Hooman as a backup to Gronk.

However, we also need an inside pass-rusher.

If Dustin Keller were already signed, I don't think that this would be an issue at all.

I would say that Amendola is a lock (Contract) and that Lafell barring injury would be real hard to cut. I would say that Hooman is also a lock because of his familiarity with the system and the concerns over Gronks health
Looking at the roster now but, JUNE 1st;) is coming right up and the final might be new names

I really like Justin Jones to supplant D.J Williams, with or without Keller. If you haven't listened to his interview give it a listen really comes off like a well spoken veteran, not a UDFA that had some maturity and academic issues @ ECU. Sounds like he really gets it. At the very least he will be apart of the fold via practice Squad for later consideration.

He will be the largest TE in the NFL(height/weight) with one of the best 3 cones league wide. Intriguing to put it mildly.

It's rather scary how the Tight End group has gone from the Patriots best skill position unit to the worst in one season.

The three cone and size are impressive. The lack of straight line speed and his poor blocking is concerning. I like him for the practice squad.

Interesting thing is in 2011 the only season we really had a prolific two tight end offense we were actually two deep the majority of the time with just Gronkowski and Hernandez. Dan Gronkowski was on and off the roster that year.

I know most people don't but I still like Thompkins and think he will bounce back and make that year 2 jump. I'm not as confident with Boyce though

Depends on his role, word is he ran a 4.7 at the Georgia State pro day he was allowed to participate in, if so, his straight line speed is fine. A 6"8 TE getting in and out of his breaks with elite quickness is dangerous.

Blocking is probably the least of my concerns considering his natural tools, he has the frame and length of an OT. He just has to want it(motor/effort) and remain coachable(technique).

And again, I thought his interview was the most impressive out of all the rookies that I've heard, along with Jimmy Football.

Its only the worst in your head. Gronk is still a Patriot and the best TE in the League. He isn't dead!. Hoomanawanui is a fair backup #3 or #4 TE.

Gronk is recovering from reconstructive knee surgery. The rest of the group is filled with jags and unproven players. It is the worst skill position unit on the Patriots until proven otherwise.
