DeSean Jackson?

Why would the Eagles do this? What's in it for them other than unloading some cap room, but then they have a huge need at receiver for their young QB. Unless this front office totally hates Jackson which wouldn't be that surprising, I don't see why Philly would dump a player like Jackson who just came off a great year for an injury prone player like Amendola and some other lower tier players.

If the Patriots want to consider this and seriously seek this trade, I'd think they would have to release Wilfork.

I knew this thread would get over a 100+ posts. Its still as crazy a notion that the Pats take on a cap charge of over $10MM on a freakin WR, as it was when I said so 80 posts ago..

Haven't you guys even been watching this team the last 14 years. BB has paid that kind of money for only ONE WR in all his years here, and that was an all time top 5 guy in the history of the league. And it should be noted that the MINUTE he stopped being worth that kind of money, BB traded him. BB might pay Charles Johnson $10MM, but Desean Jackson????? That's really ridiculous. He wouldn't do it, if he could get him for free, let alone give up a 2nd day draft pick.

I am so sure that I'm right on Jackson, that I'm willing to bet on it. I'll do one of 2 ways AND give odds. So if you want to take the bet here it is.

1. If DeSean Jackson becomes a NE Patriot, any time before the the end of the draft, Ian will ban me until 9/1.

If he doesn't become a Patriot before the end of the draft, you will be banned until the start of TC

2. If DeSean Jackson becomes a NE Patriot anytime before the end of the draft, I will donate $100 to either the Myra Kraft Foundation or Miguel's sister's food drive, whichever you choose.

If he doesn't become a Pat before the end of the draft, you will donate $50 to either charity.

Its a win/win situation, so I hope someone takes at least one of the bets. ;)

I mean are you kidding me? Gronk over the middle, Edelman in slot and Desean going long! Imagine the space that frees up for Dobson and Vereen if they are single covered. Sheesh that is scary right there

No team is dealing with that, maybe not even Seattle.

out of the top 12 scoring teams of all time only one has won a SB the 99 rams the pats are on that list 4 times. am not saying I would not love Jackson on the team but any offense can be stopped if you can get in the QB's face

Because Chip Kelly thinks Jeremy Maclin could produce almost as much or as much as Jackson did in his system. Remember Maclin missed the whole year

Which there wouldn't be a huge need for receiver with Maclin, Cooper, McCoy and Sproles.

DJax is a GAME CHANGER. If i'm the pats i'm not even hesitating in pulling the trigger by shipping out Amendola and bringing in Desean. You're talking SB guaranteed with a receiver like that for Brady to throw to

Why would the pats trade a guy they JUST paid 2 mill too? They get value out of their guys....and based on that and them paying him 2 Mill not even 2 weeks ago..amendola isn't going ANYWHERE this year

Interestingly....Jackson is the type of guy Talib would have a tough time covering.

My god make it so BB. DJ on this team with Brady, Gronk and the two big WR's in Lafell and Dobson with Edelman and Amendola working the slot = :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

If he truly is available, the pats have made their offer, and PHI is just waiting to see if something better comes along, or if they should just hold on to him. Nothing says they have to trade him this year.

He's one of the few offensive non-QB players actually worth that money.

So unless PHI is desperate we won't see him bc/NE won't overpay. But maybe, just maybe, they are desperate...

Hes a talented player, but regardless of money, im not sure how much of a fit he even is.

Brady has never been great at throwing the deep ball, and we've seen how his deep ball accuracy has decreased quite noticeably these last few seasons with age. Jackson's primary talent revolves around being a deep threat.

Maybe he is a multi-threat with the return game, but we just resigned Edelman and he is already good at that, and Desean hasn't had a return TD since the Giants miracle in 2010.

Just not seeing this as a great match. He's a dynamic player on offense, but not so much with the way we run things around here.

2015:
$9,750,000 base salary
$12,000,000 cap number
$8,000,000 cap savings if cut or traded
$4,000,000 dead money if cut or traded

I think 2015 is the year they look to unload him. They really gain nothing from trading him this year. Probably just getting a feel so they can plan for the future.

What if the trade was Wilfork + Amendola for Desean Jackson. How would you feel about it then?

I think Belichick is doing this so someone in the AFC will foolishly spend more of their under the cap money.

I don't think BB wants someone he only has to play every 4 years as-is in the AFC.

Can you imagine Gronk and Jace Amaro working the seams as DJax pulls a safety to help over the top :)and have Jules working the short middle with Vereen as a check down or wheel route :)

I feel like this is one huge tease.

I would love the talent he brings, but I hate the contract numbers. He's not an off-field problem, and while he's had issues on the field, this happened under Andy Reid, who has had his share of trouble managing difficult players and player situations.

His current coach wants him gone, so...

Whatever he wants him gone for, it isn't for his skills on the football field. Maybe he just had an attitude from the Andy era of dysfunction and Chip is dropping guys that haven't fallen completely in line with his new regime.

The kid might be a little ****er and his show boating antics on the field don't mesh well with `the Patriot way`, but the kid has talent and he is fast as hell.
If we had him teams would have to play the deep ball.

He's also an elusive little bastard. Great at escaping tackles and making an 80 yard TD out of nothing.

Anyone, I'm positive this won't happen unless Belichick is a magician

All those "incidents" are pretty old, when he was much younger.

Maybe not the 91 yard backward TD. But what stands out to me about that play is DAMN that dude can fly! We don't have anyone on the roster that can do that. Please don't trot out Boyce lol.

He does other things, too, like run the width of the end zone to troll a defense he just smoked down the side line before finally bringing the ball into the paint for the TD. He's been penalized for tossing the ball to the opposing head coach after a great play. He definitely has attitude issues.

If, and it's a big if that I'm doubtful of, but if Belichick could land him, I think he would shut that down immediately. He'd get benched a game for doing it here
