68K Rain Soaked Screaming Maniacs Didn't Seem to Have "Playoff Fatigue" Tonight

Re: 68K Screaming Maniacs Sure Didn't Look Like They Had Playoff Fatigue Tonight

We all know what a tool Shaughnessy can be, but his article this morning is 100% gushing positive, marveling over the adversity the team has faced and how nothing could hold them down.

But...was anybody else curious about this bit?

At the end of the night, after yet another Tom Brady target got hurt, the Patriots receiving corps looked like that of the 1959 New York Giants: three guys, 6-feet and shorter.

I'd bet money that an editor neutered that sentence, which is so, so obviously structured to read "three white guys, 6-feet and shorter."

(In fact, '59 Giants star Frank Gifford was over 6 feet tall, as is Austin Collie. It's all about the melanin in that sentence.)

I was in 331 and was awesome to look across the field and be barely able to see an empty red seat!!! The Blount run from scrimmage was one of the few times that I actually felt the stadium shaking under my feet!!

Pssst, 'chick, you may want to check out post #11.

God, I hope we start getting some in-stadium videos of that.

Loudest I've seen the place.

Nice to finally read a positive post about the Gillette crowd. Thanks for all those in attendance for your extra efforts. Bring it on next week too!

It was a perfect storm (pardon the pun) last night.

-Lot of excitement around this team which (IMO) is a bit of an underdog right now.

-The place was buzzing before the game but the Dennard INT and TD really got the crowd going.

-For some reason, crappy weather gets the crowd going. Part of it might be that the really dedicated fans brave the conditions and the Merlot and Brie crowd stay home.

That's the best crowd I have ever seen at Gillette. My voice is at about 45% effectiveness today. It was a blast.
Quick question, PJ. Were the red seat elite represented in this cacophony, or were they all in the "club" sipping Cosmos and reading the WSJ. That would be the ultimate test of fandom.

Great game and great crowd! We stood (section 136) all game. My voice is shot today....the drive home was measured not in miles but in throat lozenges.
The place was rocking from the get-go. A lot of the posts here point to Blount's run and that is right but the crowd after that first pick was pretty loud too. :rocker:
the game was perfect from a home crowd perspective: early pick and two tds to get the party started and everyone revved up to max. Indy stays in it and hangs around so the fans could not relax but had to keep coaching from the stands, booing the refs, and hollerin' for scores and sacks. Then late, the rain stops, it becomes a beautiful NE Fall night ... LOL....and the Pats dominate in the 4th so it became again a great big rollickin' Pats-fest.

I wouldn't puff out my chest too much about the crowd last night. There wasn't a Jay Z - Justin Timberlake concert in the area, so it's not like the Patriots had any competition.

:D

Well done! I was going to post something along those lines earlier, but you put it more perfectly!

You guys rocked it! Definitely could hear the fan presence on the TV.

I hope by 7pm today all you lucky ticket holders are preparing for next weeks home game. :)

Oh no, the folks in the red seats definitely added to the raucous atmosphere. Whenever I would look across the field they appeared admirably filled.

Shaughnessy is the man. Truly an amazing NFL analyst.

. @Dan_Shaughnessy: Waltz of the Tomato Cans is underway here in Foxboro . . .

@Dan_Shaughnessy: Only 21-12 at half. Should the Pats be worried?

@Dan_Shaughnessy: I hate being right . . .

I just have to give myself and the other fans on here and all those "out there" that have attended one or more of these games this year a little pat on the back. Do you realize the Colts game (at least right before it started and intermittently throughout) was the 4th extreme weather game we have had this year at Gillette? The Jets, Buffalo and parts of the Indy game were all huge soakers and the Denver game was FREEZING. But many souls braved one or more of all of them to support the Pats.

That is why I get mad when I see the inevitable, "the fans suck" threads from people sitting home on their overstuffed sofas. Stuff yourself!!

Last night was awesome! Everyone stood and screamed the entire game. Nobody left until Dennard's 2nd INT (the hours of traffic on Rte. 1 getting out attest to that). I just hope we get the chance to do it again next week!

Rant over!! GO PATS!!

Yup, last night was as good as it gets at the ol' ball field, weather be damned. :rocker:

God, I hope we start getting some in-stadium videos of that.

I have some, just not sure how to post them. I was in the red seats Sat night, first time ever, and we stood the whole game. Incredible loudness, total wickedness!

Just a couple of thought from the game. Most of the heavy rain occurred earlier in the day. The rain during the game wasn't bad at all.

As for the crowd, those of us that were there made a ton of noise, but there were tons of empty seats and tickets were readily available throughout the week so I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "stick-it-to-the-Globe" type of game day crowd.

I had heard that 90% of season ticket holders purchased their playoff tickets. If so, weren't there a majority of season ticket holders there?

What ever the case, you guys that were there totally ROCKED THE HOUSE :rocker:

The crowd was incredible last night (from the TV). Looks like they were standing pretty much throughout. The scene after Blount's 73 yard TD run was pure pandemonium.

If the Chargers pull off the upset today, I hope it freaking snows next week, so that the "Tailgating Emirils" give up their tickets to the crowd that showed up last night.

I was in section 106 and my 3 buddies were in section 102 and none of us sat down the entire game...In fact, I didn't see ANYONE sit down at all the entire game. It is now Monday afternoon and my voice is still gone. What an epic crowd, what an epic game, the bad weather was worth it to endure for such a great performance...Feed the Beast!!!(Blount)
