Rob Gronkowski injury: torn ACL, MCL

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

I don't blame Ward for the hit at all. As much as he is disliked Meriweather was right. If the tacklers can't hit high then they'll be forced to go low and risk all kinds of lower body injuries.

The loss of Gronk is devastating, and its tragic to see what the guy has gone thru with his injuries. Can our offense remain good enough to carry a poor defense? We shall see but for the moment we are 10-3. Something to feel good about.

I don't blame Ward either, but him blaming the rules is silly. Gronk is nearly seven feet tall. There is plenty of body to tackle without hitting him in the head. Fact is that bringing Gronk down is easier if you go low. It has nothing to do with the rules.

Is there any TE worth signing still out there ? DJ Williams who we signed and then released recently may be helpful. How about the kid from Clemson we had in camp, Ford ?

Maybe DJ but lets wait until we get news. We might actually get lucky and its not a bad injury.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

We may not see Gronk until next December. Surgery on his back, multiple surgeries on his arm now an acl injury. The Gronk we knew could be done.
You better watch out, my friend. I said something similar and got attacked with venom on all sides.

I had the same thought. Its easy to claim you had to go low because of the rules. When I think we all know if he had tried to make a non-cheap shot tackle Gronk drags him down the field for another 5+ yards.

He was probably trying to undercut his legs and hit his knee instead, because its basically the only way for a little DB to take Gronk down.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Heart breaking news on Gronk. Seems like we can't catch a break this year with all these injuries. Get well soon Gronk.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

More time to bang strippers. Lucky guy.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

His foot wasn't planted, was it? It could have been worse, I think. Of course, I know nothing of the actual situation, but still photos of this don't turn my stomach.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

That was my biggest problem with the Ward quote. All he had to do was say,

"I obviously went too low. I meant to hit him on the thigh but I didn't have a lot of time to react. I'm not a dirty player. I'm wish I didn't hurt him but I wish the fans can understand how fast this game is. I'm sorry I hurt him. I hope he comes back quick and like the Pro-Bowl player he is.".

Instead he used rules to hid behind the hit and justify it. Thats BS.

I think we might get by with just a hyper extension and he might come back.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

So are you saying you'd rather have Brady go out than Gronk? Come on.

With Brady, we always have a chance. Always.

That wasn't the question--it was which injury stung the most at the time. Gronk's over Brady's for me.

That's ridiculous. Nothing stings worse than losing the greatest QB of all time in game 1 of the season.

I admire your optimism, but I doubt this. They are probably able to tell that it is likely a torn ACL even before an MRI. They've seen them enough times and know what to look for.

I'm just holding out hope that it is just a straightforward ACL and not some mess of multiple torn tendons and ligaments.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Get better soon big dude. This is now 3 years in a row that the pats have been without Gronk for the Playoffs when it really matters.

This team has proven it has a lot of fight in it. But this is just ridiculous

I know, but lets see. I know I am nuts for saying that, but anything is possible. Our luck has to change soon!

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

At this point, I hope its a clean ACL tear. ACL plus other ligaments (LCL PCL) would be alot worse. Given his luck.....

Meh it's fine even if it's multiple. I did ACL MCL and Meniscus playing Rugby. Was back running around at 6 months and playing again at 8. It's all abotu how the surgery and rehab goes.

A mate just did his ACL, infection happened, needed to do it again, was out 2 years.

I am hoping Gronk is ready by week 5 next year.

That's how I feel. Several people in here are attacking me and assuming it's "just" an ACL, no problem, see you in September Gronk. I saw the play and my fear is that it is worse than that. I think projections that he is ready for opening day 2014 are extremely optimistic and maybe even a bit unrealistic.

For some reason, when I express my fears, it makes certain people in here very very angry. So you better watch out, they may be coming for you next.

They would know if it was the LCL and PCL just like they know it is an ACL. Since there are no reports of any other tears, it is safe to expect at worst there might be an MCL tear which really is minor relative to an ACL tear.
