After watching week one's games (including almost all of the Jets game that we got here in NYC), I have no idea how we are 11 point picks over the Jets and the Broncos are only four point picks over the Giants.

If I'm a betting man, Jets and Broncos v. the spread is at least good arbitrage and probably a dual payday.

For his first game in a circus, Geno Smith might not have been "good," but he was at least "OK" and maybe even "OK+" and the Jets D can be tough, even without Revis; they are definitely better off with this untested Rookie than with the Sanchize, who seems headed for a career as journeyman backup somewhere else after he finishes cashing Tannenchez' checks.

I don't see the Pats losing on Thursday, but it's not going to be a walk in the park...which many here thought it would be in Orchard Park.

People need to move past the supposed aura of the Jets Defense. They're no longer the terrors of the past. They're a good unit and nothing more. They may very well return to being an elite D in the future, but right now, Brady has their measure.

If the Patriots don't continue this run of full ****** turnover form, I don't see it being close. If the Patriots continue to shoot themselves in the foot with silly turnovers and afford Smith the vaunted Sanchez check down, then the game will be closer than we give it credit for.

Jesters always play us tough (it IS their Superbowl, after all), but you can bet the Pats have a few wrinkles up their sleeve for the Thursday game.

So I'm expecting a close game, with a few big plays that Rex hasn't seen on film yet.

The Pats are going to have to play a hell of a lot better to win, and you just know Rex is probably wiggling his toes in delight watching tape of our discombobulated offense.

I know they weren't superb on offense yesterday, but let's look at what they did do well:

- 158 yds rushing, 4.5 ypc.
- 11-20 third down conversions (55.0%)
- 89 plays run
- 37:43 time of possession
- 431 total yards

Those are some excellent numbers. And, again, three unforced turnovers that took points off the board for the Patriots (and gave them to Buffalo). The Pats should have had at least 33 points today, easy. If they had scored 33 and won this game by 20, nobody is really talking about the discombobulated offense.

Now those unforced turnovers did happen, but if Rex Ryan is counting on those happening again, he's going to be in for a long evening on Thursday.

Might be a wise idea to break out the no huddle for this one, the Jets DL is huge and talented so they need trapping on the field and winding.

The down side to this is the receivers aren't experienced and might struggle in the up tempo offense.

I said before the Bills game that I expected it to be a tough one. No Gronk and very little chemistry with Brady and the rest of the WR's. Brady said it himself in his postgame presser that they have a "looooong way to go", and he's absolutely correct. Thompkins looked like a rookie and had trouble catching anything that wasn't routine. Sudfeld disappeared for the entire game (his bust in Canton might have to wait) and Amendola looked good. I expect the Jets to take Amendola away and force the rest of our WR's to beat them. The Pats need to pound the run in this game a lot more than they did in Buffalo. Give the Jets a steady dose of Ridley and Vereen and open up the play action. The good news is that the defense should be able to limit Geno Smith and the rest of their offense to get a win, but it's probably going to be another ugly one, unless Gronk comes back.

We ran 89 plays against the Bills. Pretty up tempo. Rooks will get film coaching yet will still make rookie errors, hopefully less egregious.

Point taken with the number of plays ran, but I was thinking the super-speed 1 word play call no huddle they used against Denver last year; Wilkerson, Ellis, Harrison & Richardson aren't going to be a force for too long if they get trapped on the field against that speed.

If the new receivers can run that then I hope they use it because that would be the best way to take the Jets DL away.

The Sanchise not playing doesn't mean a slam dunk for our Pats. When was the last time we beat the Jets without Sanchise? Him not playing is addition by subtraction for the Jets. I think this game will be closer and tougher than most think.

While the Jets offense is a mess, Jets D is legit. I see a low scoring game that could go either way, with the Jets shutting down the running game and forcing Brady to throw to the young receivers, but in the end I think the receiver problem will be too much to overcome in a tight game at this point of a the season.

Jets 14
Patriots 10

The forecast right now is calling for thundershowers....could make the game very different if its wet conditions.

Take away Winslow and the Moron throws three picks and is under 50%...rush him up the middle. the Rats center is gimping...beat his stupid face in.

Joker you must be chomping at the bit! Your favorite team is coming to town!!

Favors the Pats. Won't completely take away the short pass or anything, and the Jets can't really run the ball. Mangold is hurt, and that's huge. Against the Bucs, non-Geno gets ran for under 2 YPC. Their 2 actual RBs, Ivory and Powell, had 2.4 and 1.9 YPC respectively.

I'm more worried about Hill and Holmes getting open deep and Winslow over the middle than I am about the Jets' ground game.

After yesterday I don't expect a blowout, but I think being at home and having a little Buffalo humble pie will serve us well. The Jets barely beat a team with no O. We had O, it just tripped all over itself with 3 uncharacteristic fumbles (4 if you count the Ridley one we got back). I'm hoping our D unleashes the hounds a bit and gets after this rookie QB. Thompkins has got to step up and Ridley has got to keep his hands on the ball if Amendola doesn't play.

Anyone else strangely excited that we don't have to wait another 7 days to see our boys again?! I have gone on record as saying I don't like Thursday night games, but since it's the beginning of the season, I'm kind of psyched that I don't have to wait a whole week for my next fix. And it's only week 2 and it's already a battle for the top of the division!

GO Pats!!
