If not wanting to read TMZ articles in Football training camp reports makes me a bigot, then I'm a bigot.

Yeah, the idiotic "popehats" comment, when Tebow's not even a Catholic, that was just a random mistake in your typing that happened to form a word without your intent.

Also, T.C. reports by the usual reporters are not TMZ articles. They're T.C. reports, even when they mention Tebow.

If not wanting to read TMZ articles in Football training camp reports makes me a bigot, then I'm a bigot.

As soon as you start ripping people for mentioning when anyone else stays late and signs autographs, then go ahead, haven't seen you mention that for anyone else...........

To be fair to Deus, I pulled the B word out first. I really can't come up with any other reason some people hate him so much. He has a bad day, and people rip him, he has a good day, and people rip him, he shows marked improvement and people rip him, Belicheck uses him in interesting formations, and people rip him, he plays pass with a kid at the end of practice and people rip him.

As soon as he was signed people started ripping him because of all the Tebow groupies that would show up, know what, hasn't happened, the only people that have arrived and aren't adding anything good are the Tebow haters.

So, yep stand by the Bigot call.

Bingo!
Most of the sound & fury over Tebow has been from existing posters whose panties get in a wad every single time the contender for QB 3 is mentioned.

Simply letting the Tebow girls gush over him for a post or 2 without responding would make the forum a better place. The blame for the thread derails is far more on existing members' take no prisoners responses than on the very few obsessed newbies.

Fool that I am, I'm hoping for better in the Day 7 thread.

And, I really don't want to be on Deus' side, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.

I dont hate Tebow, I hate all the nonsense attention he gets for things he does not related to football. hes a third string qb, hes currently playing like a 3rd string qb. he completes 22% of his throws in practice with no passrush, and people act like hes the second coming.

He toss a ball with "some kid" and he gets a post longer then anything else thats been posted. It obnoxious. Soon as Sweet caroline starts producing at more then a practice squad member level we can throw him some praise.

popehat seemed more appropriate in this case then pinkhat, Though im willing to hear suggestions on what we should call the Tebow bandwagoners.

I would like for you to point to one person who acts like Tebow is the second coming.

Bet you won't find it.

Brady is the unquestioned starter.

Mallet is the #2, but it's possible he could lose his job to Tebow. Not probable, but possible.

Other than that, nobody is saying anything overly gushing about Tebow other than he's looked pretty decent so far. Pretty decent isn't even quite up to the level of "good", so I don't know why you're so angry.

They're are only a handful on the site, and you people attacking all things Tebow far outnumber them. If you must have a name, what's wrong with a simple "Tebowite" or "Tebowmaniac"? Why do you have to pull the religious aspect into it? Let your (collective) bigotry die, and stick to the relevant football aspects of the posts, and the thread hijacks will go away.

I'm kind of busy right at this moment, but ill gather a list for you later today

None of which was relevant to anything but PR and getting Tebows name out there a bit more.

Personally, I have stayed out of the Tebow thing because I really don't care enough about him. He is QB3.

I don't want him on this team myself. I think the Pats, who haven't carried three QBs in several years, can afford to carry three QBs this year. So unless they trade Mallet, I don't want to waste a roster spot to try to turn Tebow into a real QB.

Either Tebow or Mallet cannot be on the 53 man roster with the Pats most likely going to have to carry an extra WR or TE at least short term (especially since I don't think Gronk is going to PUP even if he isn't ready to play week 1). My feeling is that Tebow draws the short straw.

Seems like every day someone posts who stays late and signs autographs, or whatever. This is a thread about training camp and people post this. I have never seen anyone complain about this fluff in these threads until Tebow was mentioned. If it bothers you stop reading them.

Come on Rob, I expect more from you. If BB wants three qb's on the roster he can have 3 QB's on the roster. You have no inside information at all, and are just guessing and trying to pass it off as fact.

If Tebow had the talents of, say, Andrew Luck, we would all be singing his praises. His religious practices would be a largely ignored sidelight. But Tebow is not prominent primarily because of his football talents, apparently. He is prominent because circumstances have made him the most prominent religious figure in the NFL. For some people, that makes him a target, not because of his particular beliefs or even the way he practices them, but because some of his supporters tout him as a kind of superior being, a representative of everything good in a sport with a very spotty record. They--not he--come across as smug and sanctimonious, but he is tarred with the same brush. And so he is attacked, because it's human nature to resent having someone say he's better than you are, or to resent someone who is portrayed that way.

The plain truth is that Tebow is a football player. Either he's talented enough to stick with the team or he isn't. His religious practices have nothing whatever to do with it. And he is a man, not a saint. By canonizing him at a very early age, his supporters have put an enormous burden on him and made him a target. This is patently unfair. It might be fair if he were doing this to himself, but it looks like others have done it to him.

I don't think he's going to make the team because he's not good enough and we already have a backup the coach seems to like. I think he's not going to make the team because there are only 53 roster spots and there are always 54 or 55 people who deserve one, who have demonstrated they could really help the team. We all have our binkies. And it's just fine if Tebow is your binky, whatever your reasons. But he will rise or fall on his football talent and what he can give to the team.

Thank you, seems like a good way to end Day 6.

This is the common misconception. Sounds great to write it out, and truthfully, it is what I expected would happen. Except that what has actually happened here is exactly the opposite. No huge outcry from his adoring fans, no he is the best QB ever, no religious undertones. Everything has come from the Tebow haters.

This is exactly the sort of ridiculousness I'm talking about with you anti-Tebow zealots. I posted T.C. reports that were filed by more than one of the usual T.C. reporters. It wasn't marketing, despite your attempt to frame it as such. It was passing on T.C. reports.

And, just an FYI, if Brady or some other player stays an hour late with some kid tonight, and 2 reporters file it as a T.C. report, and I see it, I'll be posting that, too.

Because:

You aren't paying attention. There are a handful that post only, and I mean only, about the 3rd string QB.

Sure the Pats could carry three QB if the want, but is smart to in this year. With Gronk potentially out and a whole new receiving corp, the Pats may need that roster spot to carry an extra TE or WR. Maybe they can get it from somewhere else by carrying one less defender or o-lineman or RB. But on this team, a third QB is a luxury. And that luxury may take away from a necessity especially if the Pats decide not PUP Gronk and he isn't ready to play for 2-3 weeks into the season.

And like everything on this board, it is my personal opinion and no inside information. But looking from the outside looking it, it would be smarter to carry an extra receiver on the roster than an extra QB.

So, a handful is the floodgates that were prophesized when he was signed? We have a handful of people that talk about lots of different players that probably won't make the team. We have more than a handful who post only negative things about him.
