Report: Patriots very interested in Revis

Revis wanted $16m a year from the Jets a losing franchise. Maybe after going through a serious injury and now this he'd see value in being part of great winning franchise.

don't hold your breath....

Revis needs help if those contract demands are proven to be true. If someone is prepared to pay that contract for a corner, they should be sent for psychological evaluation at their soonest convenience.

this sounds to me like the peppers rumors a few years back just to get he's stock up he's looking for 15 million no way the pats pay that for anyone not named brady and the jets will not trade him to the pats

I've got no pipes to contribute to this dream. But, I'm not so sure I'd take the risk on Revis, given his injury history and the fact that he benefits from some blind zebras to help him with his game. Put him on a high profile, consistent contender and he might not get the "also ran" treatment he gets in New Jersey. He'd still be a good corner, but even as is, spending that much on CB seems Jestish.

The Revis Mallett scenario is an interesting one, not that it will ever happening but great, creative idea from that poster.

Its an interesting situation because Revis can strong arm the Jets and dictate where he goes. Since he cannot be franchised and has a year left on his deal, a team is only going to give the Jets a high draft pick if they can negotiate an extension with Revis before the trade. If Revis doesn't want to go to a team all he has to do is refuse to agree to an extension and that team won't trade for him.

This is really similar to the Dwight Howard scenario in the NBA, it will no doubt be hilarious to watch the Jets deal with this :D

How about getting Philly involved with something like:

Jets receive: Philly #1 & #2
Philly receive: Patriots #1 & a player (Hernandez?)
Patriots receive: Revis

It's all unlikely anyway so no harm in proposing out there ideas for it.

Not only is it not likely...there is 0 chance of Revis coming here....thankfully.

When he is being interviewed he is all "we are about winning as a team blah blah blah. But the real Revis is the guy that you have to negotiate a contract with and that Revis is all about being the top paid everything on the planet. Top paid DB...top paid Defender any position....top paid on his team....on and on and on. He can go find a flagpole to sit on as far as I'm concerned. Maybe the Jets have started to grow a brain and are taking advantage of the situation to try to get past the Revis era.

Denver doesn't have the cap room. I'd say Green Bay or New Orleans.

Its possible he could end up in NO. Sence we are going to a 3-4 now, and if we get Crennel, because our cap looks big now, but alot of defensive players will be leaving. Like Ellis, smith, Bunkley, harper, Vilma, and maybe even Jenkins.
We will have enouph cap to score something elite, and maybe like Lofton he will even work here for less than he was making at the Jets.
But he wont be aloud to speak out like he did on the Jets, that wont be aloud.

But Greer, who has been #2-5 CB for a while, with Revis ? That might be fun to watch

Thing that scares me is these brilliant CB tandems always seem to fall apart.
Like on the Eagles, and he cost sooooooo much.
Revis available?

I think your right, GB.

The Pats can't afford to both trade Hernandez ($10M cap hit) and sign Revis (huge cap hit).

I wouldn't agree to any trade involving Hernandez, Gronk, Mayo, Brady, CJ, Hightower or Wilfork.

If the Jets don't want the Pats to get Revis, they will put a clause into a trade contract with the so-called third party that he cannot be traded to the Pats. Some of you people are so Revis hungry it's shocking. What Ryan had to go through to get this guy to sign an incredibly player friendly contract should be enough of a flag that the business side of him coming here is virtually unworkable. That's not just for the Pats, but for any team that wants to open a bank on Revis island. Of course he'll just sit out with one or two years left on his contract demanding more money wherever he signs. He's already established that MO. He may still be a good CB, but he's a pant load of problems. No thanks!

I have no idea where all of a sudden these revis guys came in with ways the pats could get him....ya pay a player 14 mill a year as a CB....

Yeah because he's an elite player. He would have shutdown Boldin. If he would be willing to take like 11-12 it'd be a great pickup. I don't think jets are that dumb tho. Would have to be too good of a trade to pass up which the pats won't do. So they'd have to come up with something sneaky. Maybe one of BBs pals would help him out (Schiano, Lombardi, Reid?).

At this point, I'm willing to pay big $ for an elite corner. This defense is basically an elite corner + an above average safety away from being shutdown. I'm not saying it has to be Revis. The Ravens were going next to nowhere while Talib was out there in the AFCCG. Brady doesn't have that many years left. We need an elite corner NOW.

Not only that, but suppose a team trades for his remaining year at 6 mil. He's already held out on two contracts. What's to stop him from holding out on his final year with a new team for 12, 13 or even the his magical 14 mil number? There is no team in Revis.

A team would have to agree with him on a new contract before trading him, mainly because he can't be tagged after that one year of $6M.

Amen I want Talib or his equivalent back obviously Revis is not going to happen and its time to stop depending on the draft and Glass-I R Dowling. Time to pay up, deal with the cap consequences in 3-4 years when it happens and Bradys gone.

Nope, he wants money. At least that's what all reports indicate.

Winning is overrated compared to being able to provide financially for your children, grandchildren, etc.

he's just like mike wallace..where go where the $$ is

How much of that money will any of his descendants actually see? Revis might be an exception, but most NFL players who make lots of money also spend lots of money.
