Ras-I Dowling placed on Injured Reserve

It's "Ras-I-R Dowling" to me :bricks:

At this point as crazy as it sounds I would give old timers a chance to see if they have anything left in the tank. Ty Law could be no worse at this point than any practice squad player or jag off the street. What he has lost in age would be gained by experience. Just having him on the sideline as an extra coach wouldn't hurt and maybe he could teach guys to turn their heads once in awhile.

I must be going insane to even to be thinking these thoughts. either that or our secondary reeks that bad that I'm that desperate.

Experience in what? Being retired?

On a side note it just shows you just how injured or a malcontent that Leigh Bodden was that they cut him.

Injured is the understanding. There is no evidence of LB being a malcontent. He had back surgery after his release and has been out of football since

He was considered possibly a top 10 pick after his junior year at Virginia but injuries have gotten in the way. He has the talent but like Ron Brace you can't be of any value if you don't play. Can't see Dowling as a legitimate starter and at best a reserve which may be the only way to keep him healthy.....Suggestion to Pats for future "project" picks like Dowlling. Pick STARTERS in the 2nd round and go after "projects" (hint dbs: Tryrann Mathieu- LSU, Bacarri Rambo - Georgia) in the 4th, 5th or 6th.

They used the same philosophy when drafting Gronk in the second round. Dowling has certainly been disappointing but like Cunningham he still has time. He may end up a Crable but that's yet to be seen. Even so you abandon that thinking for yours and you don't draft Gronk who was also a top 15 projection if not for the back injuries. Vollmer although maybe not a first was a great value pick coming off an injury.

Those of you who are convinced they can judge talent better than BB et al get really tiresome.

At least in the case of this particular pick, we were better than Bill.

Ras-I needs to find himself a good trainer that can provide him with 'supplements' that help his recovery time.

Yeah but a needle in the buttocks would probably cause him to suffer a broken tailbone. :bricks:

Dowling would probably hurt himself tasting pie at a pie eating contest.:snob:

The only thing that breaks more easily than Ras-I is a politicians promise, after hes been elected.

question of the day..will he ever play in more than 8 games in a season in his career...

Quick question for all the drafting sucks people, and I fall into the bill isn't perfect but still better then everyone else category, if you could go back and have 30 seconds of bills time before any draft what would you say? My original thought was Larry Fitzgerald is the next Jerry rice and to still get Welker in 07 to go with him, but then I realized he was drafted in 04 which means no Wilfork. Andre Johnson instead of Ty warren in 03 is intriguing as is ngati or mangold instead of marony in 06. So with 20/20 hindsight who would make the patriots a very interesting team? I think I would see if he could get Wilfork and Fitz can you imagine the records Brady would have broken?

Not sure what records Brady would break with Wilfork alongside him.

first, which source has stated that talib is even on the market?

schiano says talib will be back; actually says “trust us” | profootballtalk

second, based on talib's past history, he is not worth the trouble.

i'll believe it when i see it since it's contrary to schiano's latest statement on the subject.

last season after ras-i dowling was placed on injured reserve, did the new england patriots trade for a cornerback?

Last season after leigh bodden was cut, did the new england patriots trade for a cornerback?

how many of the other defensive backs have been placed on injured reserve:

Patrick chung - no
steven gregory - no
tavon wilson - no
nate ebner - no
devin mccourty - no
alfonzo dennard - no
kyle arrington - no
sterling moore - no
marquice cole - no

the new england patriots have nine defensive backs on the 53 man roster.

With regard to deion branch, the new england patriots traded randy moss to the minnesota vikings in the same season.

you're the one hitting the panic button.
