Week 6 at Seattle Seahawks.... piece of cake, right?

Prediction:

First quarter ends something like 3-3 or 6-3, the usual gameday thread trolls are spouting off with the usual tripe then come the 2nd quarter when the team have seen what Seattle have and the coaches have adjusted to it things start to go more New England's way.

Gotta get it going early. first drive score or on D get a 3 and out and then punch it in. Can't let this team stick around. Put up early points and make them keep up with us. Seattle would love to play this game in the teens.

It will be close until half..expect the pats to pull away in the 3rd and 4th

I fully expect you guys to win, but that doesn't change the fact that flying out West to play a team with an excellent defense and a crazy home crowd really sucks.

You guys would do well to keep guys in frequently on protection (it's not like you'll need to score 30 to beat them!)

Seattle has an excellent defense and the best home field advantage in the NFL.

That being said, it seems some of their fans are going a bit overboard with their enthusiasm of achieving a 3-2 record. Actually it's difficult to remember that they're 3-2 since so many of their fans keep referring to their team as already being 4-2. I'm also having trouble following the logic that they will beat the Pats because NE lost to Arizona ... when their team also lost to the Cardinals.

Seahawks.NET - The Essential Seahawks Community Forum - Why The Seahawks Will Beat The Patriots

The Seahawks lost to the Rams and the Cardinals, were gifted a win against Green Bay, beat a wildly inconsistent Dallas team and also defeated a very bad Carolina team. Before the season began I thought this would be a very difficult game for the Pats, and still feel the same way. Their defense is very, very good. I just think that collectively their fan base seems to be overly confident and biased. People accuse others here of being homers all the time; it's nothing like what's going on over there.

No offense to them, but it's like the movie Groundhog Day; it seems as if I hear and read the same identical reasons why an opponent will beat the Pats from a new fan base game after game, week after week, year after year.

Could the Seahawks win?

With that defense, absolutely; of course they could.

Is it likely that the Seahawks win?

No; it is more likely that the Pats will win.

Seahawks fan here.

I agree completely with your assessment of the fans on this thread and most Seahawks message boards. There are some unreal expectations floating around Seahawk fandom. The Seahawks running game is going to have to be spectacular on Sunday for them to win because Russell Wilson will not be able to win it for them. I don't expect the running game to be enough. The Seahawks D is very good and will shut down the Pats for a time but I don't believe they will be able to do it for a full game. The Pats will get at least a couple TD drives and that may be all that is required. I'd predict 24-9 Pats. Seattle will find out that the D can't win every game for them. Some TD's will be required to have a playoff caliber team. Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm completely wrong but a dash of realism could help this team grow.

I agree.

I think a lot of Seahawk fans think that because they stopped the Packers, they'll stop New England, not understanding that the over hyped Packers have an offense bland and vanilla in comparison to our own, and that the Patriots are on a completely different level.

I also want to say that if I had a "second team" it would be the Seahawks, even though I don't have any emotional attachment to their winning or losing. I just find myself passively rooting for them. I think they have a cool name. I think they have awesome fans. This is all high praise coming from me because I see enemies I despise all over the NFL.

And with all that said, Seahawks die hards will find out sometime around the middle of the third quarter that they're being put away by a team they're simply not ready for yet.

Such certainty -- especially for a game that's being played IN Seattle [Shaking my head]. This is the NFL amigo, where the unexpected most certainly can and does happen each and every week. Just ask the Steelers.

Haven't you learned anything from the Arizona game? You know it's ok saying things like I think the Pats will beat them because they have the better team, but saying it will be a blowout in one of the toughest away games this year is simply arrogant. Honestly the Pats secondary was beaten by worse QBs than Wilson and if he has a good day that will be one tough game

I do think the Pats will win because they are a better team but you never know what's going to happen. I remember telling friends who the Jets would be a piece of cake because of the 45-3. We all know how that one ended.
I am happy that the players won't have your attitude and give every opponent the respect they deserve, unless of course it's the Jets they don't deserve any respect in advance :D

amigo??...I swear this can of corn Hawks "fan" is trippin'...this ain't San Diego, buddy...nobody calls anybody amigo, omigo, umigo, imigo, emigo, ymigo or any other left coast avocado tofutti slurping ethnic pejoratives here in the Northeast, pal....now go get your friggin' shine box ,Spider....

After reading through this entire thread one thing is abundantly clear and equally compelling, both teams fans see this game as a pivotal moment for their teams success this year. Maybe a little less so for us Pats fans but still an important test for a coalescing "team".....

Just can't wait to see what happens..... should be fun!

And oh yeah, Joker, amigo, funny stuff in your last post..... Now go get your friggin' shine-box! LOL

actually, Feep...it's an NFC game...all it really means is a win or loss in the aggregate...this isn't a Pitt/NE or Ravens/NE game with huge implications for the playoffs.

What I've learned is the Patriots reinvent their offense every single season, no matter how great or unstoppable it was the year before, and that Belichick often treats games like pre season experiment exhibitions until week 5 or so, but more so in week # 1 and week # 2.

This is why it's become routine in New England to hear our team being dismissed as average for the first few weeks of football and then by week # 10 hear all the same geniuses in the media start asking if anyone in the league can stop us.

Last year after we lost to the Giants in week # 6 (our second loss in a row), ESPN, NFL Network, NFL.com, everyone, dismissed us and rode another horse.
Patriot fans knew they were wrong, knew we were a defensive work in progress, saw the defensive improvement (even in a loss) and many of us were vocal in a belief we would still go to the Superbowl.

Guess what? We did go to the Superbowl.

That loss to the Arizona Cardinals is in my mind as relevant to the capabilities and current skill level of this football team as last seasons loss to the Bills. That is to say.... not relevant at all.

This is how things work in New England. We come out, we dominate in week # 1, Belichick and his coaching staff are trying some things, it doesn't come together immediately, we drop a game or two, then we go on a winning streak that simply DOESN'T END.

Right now people are talking about Houston. I think most of us Patriot fans who have seen this show before know that by week 12 they'll be talking about the Patriots and Houston will just be another play off team.

Seen it. Done it. Know how it ends.
With the NE Patriots, once dismissed in week # 3, the talk of the AFC in week # 14.

Agreed, Joker, but a good solid win against a good D, (strike that) a VERY good D in their place would leave us all feeling a lot better after the Arizona letdown and put us back where we all sorta thought would be at this point... in the 5-1/ 4-2 area. The vastly improved running game has been fun to watch. To say the least and I believe we are gonna need it in Seattle bigtime......

Of course not!

But the Seahawks D is good measurement where the O is right now. If they can really score +30 on this D with not even a fully fit Gronk and Hernandez, just what is the potential of this O. I mean it's been a long time since Brady had a good running game, then fully fit Gronk and Hernandez, Welker, maybe better chemistry with Lloyd. It's just exciting to be a patriots fan at the moment :rocker:

I rest my case:well said, MUFC7, well said.....

I know what kind of measuring stick game this is...I'm amped too...krist...the point I'm making is ,in a vacuum, this is NOT a game with big implications. Communication along the O line could be a disaster in this climate...if the running game stalls then Brady will be very vulnerable to multiple hits, especially if the Pats have to play comeback. What I'm hoping is the defensive front 7 stops Lynch and forces Carroll to put the game in the rookie's hands...get some stops, a couple of mistakes, take the crowd out of it in the 2nd half...they ARE capable of doing this...they could also get slammed....the hype going into this game from the Seattle side is playoff like.

This is one of those games this season that Brady doesn't need to be hung out to dry the entire game, IF things are hopeless in the 4th quarter. To me, getting out of this game relatively healthy is a win. I hate that surface out there. We have five games with AFC East opponents coming up...those are far more important than this, as far as I'm concerned.

I know that! I might not have been a fan as long as you are but I know how they operate. I'm suprised you didn't pick out the Cleveland game because in recent years that was the most WTF loss I've seen. I don't live in America so I don't have newspapers all I read is NFL, ESPN and the Boston Herald online. Most agree that the Pats are a good time and are much improved at D. Hell even Faulk showed some love on NFL for the Pats.

I believe as much as you do in this team. I mean this team is much improved compared to last year (running game, front 7) and the last team went to the Super Bowl and is one drop or one magic catch how you want to see it away from winning it. But away against this D I think it's arrogant to say that they will see that they are out of the game in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Just my opinion

There was no pessimism in there at all. I gave the stats, noted the pass defense still sucks (clearly seen by the stats), claimed an improvement overall and a significant improvement in the front seven. I'm trying to have an honest and unbiased discussion with Seahawks fans. If you want sunshine pumped up your ass, there are plenty of other posters around here who'll be more than happy to help you with that.

Ooh! Ooh! Who exactly do we see about this sunshine ass pumping? I'm feeling a little blue today. Does it hurt? Is there anyway to get my own, personal, at home " sunshine ass pump" at like home depot or something?:D

That's what I really like about this game. This team is really young on both sides of the ball and against this opponent with a kinda play off like buzz coming into their stadium could prove to be invaluable experience. You can't always count to go to the Super Bowl through Foxoborough , even though it happened quite often the last few years :D. Tough road games like this show you where you stand as a team.

If they win, you can count that this team will go very far with the 49ers being the last big measurement and see if you can keep up with one of if not the best team in the NFL.

If they lose, it still isn't so bad because it's a NFC fixture. In this division they can afford a loss.

But you are completely right ... Everyone staying healthy is the most important aspect of this game

Hyuh! With the size of some of the egos I've seen around here, it's hard to avoid tripping. Tell ya what, I'll get my shine box if you crawl back to your Lobster trap. :p
