The Official Patriot Day 1 draft thread.

Please post your pre-selection comments for the Patriots Day 1 draft on this thread. After the selection has been made, I'm sure there will be a separate thread devoted to that player.

The Patritos have picks #27 & #31 tonight. BB is scheduled to appear on the NFLN at 7:15PM. I'm sure he will be forthcoming as to what players he will be targeting and when he will look to trade.

Here are some mock drafts by respected draft mockers.

As you can see there is universal agreement as to who the Patriots will be picking tonight.

Here is a final "draft value chart" from Pro Football Weekly.

This shows where they think players should be drafted and there letter codes by certain players indicating certain trait that may be considered.

Holly says the Patriots are drafting Jenkins:
Janoris Jenkins (P, Ch., X, S) some of those letters by his name are not good things. And they show him as a mid 2nd round value.

I hope so. In past years this was standard at patsfans, but in recent years the mods have been merging such threads. I'm usually in favor of thread merging, but I think it's very nice having individual threads for each pick (perhaps moved to draft forum after a few days).

Merry Draft Day to all (although this is more akin to first night of Chanukah, isn't it...)

I'll be pissed if they wait until its time to pick to announce we've traded the picks as the draft first pick is at 1am here... our picks most likely around 4am...

I see us picking McClellin and then trading down and picking up Jenkins in early round 2. DMC will be a full time safety in 2012.
It will be entertaining as usual with BB.

One is general, and the other is Patriots-specific.

In before mass meltdown begins! These are worse than the game day threads.

Looking forward to finding out how the board falls tonight in the first.

I feel like this year, the draft is very top-heavy, and thus, that the Patriots will trade out of the first entirely if the players they have first round grades on are all gone, which they likely will be after the first dozen or so picks, barring a significant trade up (which I also think is unlikely).

Friday and Saturday will see them make the brunt of their moves, IMO.

LOL...that's a bold statement. Some of the game day threads have been almost instantaneous meltdowns. Like if on the first offensive play on the first offensive series it's an incomplete pass...

I am totally prepared for this very realistic possibility!!!! You have to expect BB to trade down and when he does select.....It will be NO one that you have ever heard of!!!!

The Pats will probably be forced to take Shea Mcclellin in the first to ensure Green Bay who also wants him doesn't get him. A shame!

Hmm. Been talks about Cowboys wanting Barron, will he fall to the pats now? Might be easier to trade up for him.
