Sources: Revis to line up on Welker

Wow... if you want to get pumped up for this game, go read the comments. Unprecedented homerism. Wayne Chrebet the greatest slot receiver of all time? Better than Welker? Mayo is our only linebacker and Chung is a scrub? Man, I hope the Pats ANNIHILATE the Jets today.

:yeahthat:

Watch Revis pull his hammy trying to keep up with Welker. I would lol.

I'm not convinced that Revis will be that effective with Welker. Ok he's not going to have another 200 yard game. But this leaves Cromartie on Moss. And then we've also got Tate, Edelman and the Tight Ends making mismatches that I don't think the Jets secondary can handle. We'll just have to see how this works out in practice. In theory, I'm sure the Jets feel this is the best way to go.

The nice thing now is that we have a number of other options to throw the ball to.

In the infamous words of Troy Bown, "BINGO!...I got BINGO!"...this is exactly the case. Even if Revis can shut down Welker, which he will not do we have several other options to throw to...

People keep forgetting how good Edelman is. First preseason game....best player on the field. The quickness of Welker but with tackle breaking ability. He will own the midfield routes while the Jets D focuses on Moss, Welker. I expect Edelman and PCC too be the X-Factors.

B-I-N-G-O, Borg!

Edelman, folks. Edelman.

I can't believe how overlooked he seems right now (provided he plays today).

He is the X-factor (along with the TE's).

The Patriots offense is BUILT for the blitz. I hope Ryan's stupid enough to do it all day and to put much of the secondary key on Moss/Welker

That is the beauty of this years team is the depth.Gronk,Hernandez,Wes,Randy,Faulk,Edleman and Tate. They can cover some but cannot cover all and thats the difference today.

Covering in the slot is a totally different ballgame. Welker has the entire field to cut and move. Revis is used to having a sideline to manipulate his coverage. With Welker he won't. I'm just not sure how they prepped Revis for this assignment because damn few people in the league can match Welker's quickness and the middle of the field is a free-for-all anyway.

Assuming that Welker is blanketed all game, that gives us several other options.

Wait, a few of you are assuming Edelman will be playing. Is that confirmed?

If he tries to cover Welker, he will be gassed by halftime. He may be gassed anyhow because I doubt he is in game shape.
