The media down here are all blazing that the Redskins are shopping Haynesworth for a 2nd and may be getting desperate enough for a 3rd.

Could it be that the Patriots 1st Round #22 pick actually ends up being Devin McCourty and Albert Haynesworth????? (moving down to 27th netted the third rounder)

THAT would be value (and would better explain the McCourty pick).

Of course, Haynesworth comes with baggage (but going from Jim Zorn to Bill Belichick may kick him into gear). Key thing is that Snyder The Great already paid him out the big bonus. He's $4.5 mill per year the next two years.

I'd send DC that manufactured 3rd rounder in a heartbeat for Haynesworth. Maybe up the price to one of the Patriots 2nd rounders if they throw in Jason Campbell to back up Brady. I like Campbell. He's a very talented and smart kid. It's not his fault DC gave him Brandon Lloyd to throw to with no offensive line. Give him a few years backing up Brady.

Re: Haynesworth, Anyone?

Wasn't he complaining that he wasn't allowed to rush the passer under Zorn? I think he'd have the exact same problem here. Plus, where would he play, DE? I'll keep Wilfork over Haynesworth any day.

I think the guy is a good talent, and I'd love for the Pats to have more talent, I just don't see where it fits.

4-3 defensive tackle, next to Wilfork.

Just think, we got Oakland's HIGH FIRST ROUNDER for Seymour, and could get Albert Haynesworth for a middle second rounder (and possibly a third rounder).

Nice.

If he fits, that's low cost for big talent. I'd give it a shot. Not much lost if he doesn't work out, imo.

Is Floyd Reese still with the Pats front office?

Hmmmmmm.........

Don't we have 6 DTs on the roster? I dont think Hanyesworth wants to be paid a lot less either. I just dont see it happening

No.

No.

Just, no.

I'd be shocked. Tough to see where he fits in our defense.

4-3. Next to Wilfork.

For the 3rd rounder that fell from the sky last night, it would be very little to lose.

No.

No.

Just, no.

At this point in time, he's a better player than Seymour whom you lamented that we 'only got Oakland's #1 pick next year'.

Getting Haynesworth for the manufactured 3rd is GREAT value. Plus Danny the Dunce already paid him the fat bonus. Next two years are at $4.5 million each.

That's actual data. Just writing, "no, no , just no" is not.

It make sense because whenerver 31 other teams needed a play they would throw to whilite. I know I remember him being burned all year, and all the time. This guy hopes to be an upgrade.

Ty Warren has no place in a 4-3 with Haynesworth and Wilfork as the tackles. Haynesworth is 6-6, why couldn't he play DE in the 3-4? And what does this have to do with McCourty? Are you suggesting that, if they were going 3-4 they would've taken either Hughes or Kindle?? I have to disagree with that if that's your point. The likelier explanation is that those guys are just not highly regarded, both within and without the Pats organization (i.e., if they are elite pass rushers, whey did neither go in the top 30 picks?)

Just 4.5 over the next 2 years?? But what are the #'s after that.

I can't lie that really sounds interesting, if the contract doesn't balloon that bad I'd trade a 2nd.

To me, it would make sense why they didn't pick the pass rusher last night at #1. I wanted Odrick and Kindle in this draft. McCourty made very little sense to me in terms of greatest need. However, if they had a deal already in place with Washington for Haynesworth for one of the 2's, then I could better see the reasoning for taking McCourty instead of first taking care of pass rush.

Getting a guy who could really collapse OL in addition to McCourty for the #22 pick makes alot more sense than just getting McCourty for it.

Haynesworth doesn't want to play in a 3-4 which is why he's available. If the Pats want to go to 4-3 full time Haynesworth is the best available player.

$4.5 million PER YEAR for the next two years according to WTEM in DC this morning.

Which is why we're not exactly loaded with a deep reserve of stud linebackers.

A 4-3, with Warren-Wilfork-Haynesworth-Wright.

LBs: TBC/Burgess-Mayo-Guyton/Crable

Secondary: McGowan/Chung-Meriwether-Butler/McCourty-Bodden

All at the mere cost of the manufactured 3rd rounder? I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Let's not forget three 2nd round picks today also.

I don't think you'll find anyone anywhere that disagrees with that.

I just think it is a dream not reality.

1.) He plays a different position than Seymour, so your argument is not only petty, it's irrelevant.

2.) I don't give a damn how much money the guy's getting. He's a locker room problem.

3.) The Titans didn't like him enough to keep him. The Redskins don't want him. That's relevant data. I'm sorry if you needed it spelled out for you when it's common knowledge.
