I wanted Butler at CB and BB finally grabbed the kid. I am also pleased we got another of my mock draftees (if not much higher than I thought) , Vollmer, one of the nastier OT's in the draft.

As for 2010 - I am projecting we take stars from Alabama!!!!!!!

NT Mount Cody - not many 400 plus pound nose tackles can dunk a basketball. He is immovable in the middle. He is the best college NT I have ever seen, and I think he is an UPGRADE (now as a college senior) over Wilfork, and Wilfork is an All pro.

ILB McClain - a tackling machine. A heat seeking missile that can cover and thump with the best of them. In practice he stacked and shedded big Andre Smith. McCalin and Mayo on the inside and we are set for a decade, FA not withstanding.

If an extension for Wilfork is reached, do you still advocate spening a first round pick on Cody, with Wilfork and Brace on board for the next four seasons? I have no doubt that if Seymour walks, Wilfork could slide out to end, but it seems that we'd have better use of the first round pick than selecting another nose tackle.

I was touting Chung for 10 days right up till draft time as our choice at @58 and perhaps a slight move up if a run on safeties started mid-second.

Therefore, I was surprised but not shocked we took him at #34.......

I wasn't even in the general ballpark regarding any other players!

Also, I was sure we were gonna move up to get Malcolm Jenkins. I still think he was the best CB in the draft and will be a great NFL player, but I will take Butler at @41 gladly.....I hope he has a great career with us!

Ron Brace at #40 and SeaBass Vollmer were total shockers to me....

Retrospectively now.... They look like great depth selections.....

My .02 cents

BTW: What's better than a mid 1st round pick? 3 well-spaced 2nd rounders!!!

Actually my real primary binkie was the Panthers 2010 first round pick. Not sure how the Pats traded down twice and DIDN'T end up with it. My only real disappointment for the Pats draft. I think the Panthers are going to be underachievers this year and that pick will turn out to be mui caliente.

Good God. We now have posters with draft picks—not players, but actual future draft picks—as binkies. :eek:

LOL! Curious isn't it?!? A "binky" is a person, a player you covet on your team, not a position or draft position, Metaphors! Come on now! Play fair!

I have no idea what a binky is. All I hear is "binky" this and "binky" that. What the f*** is "binky"?

Is the draft over yet?

As always, I reserve the right to be wrong about whom NE actually drafts. It sucks to be an amateur having fun with a hobby :D.

I will be watching Barwin's progress with great interest;
-- in 2006 I wanted Chris Gocong in the late second - Philly got him early in the third and he's their starting SLB;
-- in 2007 I wanted Stewart Bradley in the second round, Philly scooped him up, apparently just before NE could, in the third round - he's their starting MLB;
-- in 2008 I wanted Chris Long to slide, but realizing that was unlikely, I wanted Jerod Mayo - I may have been right about his potential too.

I may not get my binkies, but I take some pride in noting my track record on Linebackers gives me confidence in my amateur draft sleuthing - and I can't help but think how nice the LB corps would look if Bradley and Mayo, or Gocong and Bradley, or Gocong and Mayo were lined up together inside. I believe I also continue to demonstrate my fantastic prowess at picking NE draft picks by getting Patrick Chung correct. I am teh awsome! :halo:

While we're on the subject of binkies...is it just a coincidence the two teams who traded 2010 second round picks to NE will be playing in the same division as my QB abusing draft binky? BB may have waited too long "again," but he's not above betting on Houston helping to improve his draft position next year. (So there.)

The obvious answer is that the Patriots have no idea what they are doing. It is like the intentionally ignored all of our thoughtful analysis..

How could they (and the rest of the league) ignore Jaworski Lane? What were they think?

you were blinded by the smoke. it's ok! it happens to the best of 'em right mayo? :p

I don't know about the best of them, but it happened to me. :D

Heck my binky went undrafted and so far I think, unsigned. *sigh

Ian Johnson RB

That cheerleader he proposed to after OU game and later married might keep him happy even without a professional football career

I wanted Gerald Cadogan - PSU in 3rd or 4th. Hey, at least I got the right school. He didn't even get drafted.

Why wait until next year to talk about the 2010 draft? I'm on a mission to convince
Ochmed that Jared Odrick - PSU is a better fit for our system than that Sumo wrestler in Alabama. I do like MCClain though.

my binky Zack Follett went in the 7th round, but i didn't realize he had failed his physical. Cal switched to a 3-4 defense last year specifically to feature this guy as a pass rushing OLB and he played great but ended up with a neck stinger injury which makes me worry that he is the next andy katzenmoyer. However, in my mock draft I had Patrick Chung, Butler and Brace. Patrick Chung was and still is my favorite safety in this year's draft.

If someone picks a "binky" officially here now and the Patriots actually draft that player next year, the Patriots should give that poster season tickets!........:cool:

You cannot be a respectable draftnik without falling in love with a player (or 2 or 3) each draft cycle. It's in the rules.

Although I will say the rock star status of Conner Barwin went well beyond falling in love with a player. I really, really hope that people are right about him and Brian Cushing atleast 2 games per year:

English is not slow! He may not be lightning fast like Barwin, but since when did we become the Oakland Raiders? :eek:

Anyway I think I made it pretty clear I liked Darius Butler. I didn't feel we could get both so I chose English as my #1 choice at #23. I was surprised that Butler fell as far as he did.

I did like Tate early on, but after the failed drug test I took him off my radar.

40 times of recent draft choices:

Brandon Meriweather: 4.47
Jerod Mayo: 4.49
Gary Guyton: 4.47
Shawn Crable: 4.62
Terrence Wheatley: 4.37
Jonathan Wilhite: 4.38
Patrick Chung: 4.51 [top-5 for Safeties this year]
Darius Butler: 4.46 [best among CBs]

We are definitely getting faster on defense. English would have hindered this trend.

Frantz Joseph has gone as an UDFA to Oakland ... :(

This is really, really, REALLY nice to see displayed here...... You can't coach speed! Thx TriplecHamp

That's part of why I thought Barwin would fit in nicely with the youth/speed movement. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Add them all up together in a sequence and it is still probably faster than Ron Brace's 40 time. :D Oh well, quality and value are measured in more than one way.

I claim to have been the first one on the Kindle binkie bandwagon - I first started touting him last January when he almost came out this year, and I've never gotten off the wagon.

Other binky possibilities: Leonard Marsh DE (Florida), Eric Norwood DE/LB (South Carolina - for SILB).

Hold on Hold on, Im a Texas Fan, I new about Kindle when he was UT's number one recruit in the class of 2006, Ill give you the first honors tho since you've been here longer.;) Watch out for Chris Brown tho, the way he ran against UF was spectacular. He gets overlooked because of Murray and the rest of that offense.

Better or worse than the last Chris Brown from the Big 12, whom I was high on, but never learned to minimize his exposure?
