Rather not draft a QB in the 4th we have never really picked a QB that high we usually take fliers on ones late in the 6th-7th (Brady, Cassel, Guitierrez). Not high of a need to spend a 4th on a QB, we could get a TE, Punter or Oline there.
I don't see why most people are down on Lofton. He is a stud of a player. Sure he may not be the fastest, or the biggest, but then again neither is Teddy B, or many many others that have been phenomenal in the NFL.
Round 1 (Projected trade)
Matt Ryan falls to 7
(Baltimore deals their #8 overall and their 4th round pick (102) for our #7)
(8) Patriots select (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie)
Why would the Ravens do that trade? Unless another team from spot #9 and higher wants Ryan.
Rohan Davey says hi.
Seriously, though, I don't think there was a strategy of taking only 6th/7th/UDFA picks; I just think it's worked out that way as a result of Brady's success. It'll be interesting to see what the Pats do when Brady's time here nears its inevitable conclusion--whenever that might be.
Despite that fact, most people still lump round 3 in with "day one."
Numbers alone rarely give a complete picture of an NFL player; they can make a player look better than he is (e.g., Reggie Bush), or sell him short (e.g., Wes Welker).

I admit I'm a huge Oklahoma Fan, but I've got to see him play for years now and he makes plays EVERYWHERE. He had 157 tackles last year!! That's more than any Bob Stoops player has ever had at Oklahoma (the most tackles from any OU player since 1979). He had at least 10 tackles in 8 games last year.
To boot he is, character wise, a stand up guy, and never got into trouble, and I've heard Stoops say he is one of the hardest working players he has ever coached. So he is smart, athletic, has good character, hard working, and tremendous football skills. Gee...I think he sounds rather a nice fit.
Oh and BTW yes I am his agent.....kidding...

Round 2 (Projected trade)
Patriots trade their 62 and 102 to Atlanta for the (48)
(48) Patriots select (Curtis Lofton)
Round 3
(69) Patriots select (Chevis Jackson)
(94) Patriots select (Tavares Gooden)
Round 4
(128) Patriots select (Erik Ainge) (Goodbye Matt Cassel)
Round 5 (Projected Trade)
Patriots trade their (165) and (199) to KC (140)
Patriots select one of 2 available players
(140) Patriots select (Steve Slaton or Dexter Jackson)
Round 7
(239) Patriots select (Jo-Lonn Dunbar) (ILB will be heated)
Final Draft Board reads as follows
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Curtis Lofton
Chevis Jackson
Tavares Gooden
Erik Ainge
Steve Slaton/Dexter Jackson
Jo-Lonn Dunbar
Here's my take:
1-Vernon Gholston OLB Ohio State
2- Antoine Cason CB Arizona
3-Anthony Collins OT Kansas
3- Dexter Jackson WR App St
4- Tom Zbikowski S Notre Dame
5- Jack Williams CB Kent State
6- J Leman LB Illinois
7- Tommy Blake DE TCU
I agree with you. They could trade down and then take a CB in 1st round, but they won't take one at #7. They could possibly take Keith Rivers at #7 if they have no options. I really wonder what would happen if they took McFadden at #7. I think they'll go corner heavy in rounds 2-4. Cause there is alot of depth there.
