Pats Booed at Pro Bowl

Because then no one would see them as arrogant and high-and-mighty. It may be a meaningless game, but it's too bad that it's not seen as an honor anymore.

Being selected as a top player in the NFL at your position is an honor. Playing in
the Pro Bowl borders on abject stupidity.

Not necessarily for those who enjoy playing the sport. If they were truly afraid of injury, they wouldn't play football. It's a time for players to enjoy Hawaii and play with other guys who are as good or better than they are. So all the Patriots who did go are abjectly stupid?

and your team is as hated as ours, it's a victory for 31 other fanbases and all the haters out there.

It's a victory for them? Really?

We get boo'd by other fans more often than they cheer their own team. That's a victory for US, in my eyes.

There is only one team's fans who can say anything about the Patriots, and most of them weren't saying anything when their team was 10-6 except "our QB is a joke", so does what they say really matter?

The NFL doesn't stop after the Super Bowl, and neither do the Patriots. It's been a week since the depressing loss, and I think it's safe to say most of us have moved on. I'd also dare to say that the Patriots should be happier about our future prospects than the team we lost the Super Bowl to.

The way the Pro Bowl is set up and the way the guys play it right now, it's hard to get seriously injured. I wouldn't fault anyone for playing, especially if it's their first one.

I also have a lot of respect for guys like Peyton who went this year, even though they didn't have to.

On the other hand, I didn't lose any respect for Brady or Moss for skipping out. I don't think the Pro Bowl means very much to either of them this year.

Didn't Edwards blow out his knee in a flag football game? A freak accident that didn't even happen with pads on isn't really the best example.

Yes he did, in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl. It was an NFL sanctioned rookie flag
football game that remains as an icon of Pro Bowl week stupidity. It happened
at the Pro Bowl, under the NFL auspices, without pads on. Is that supposed
to make it OK?

Plaxico Burress nearly didn't play in the Super Bowl because he slipped and fell in the shower a few days before the game.

Should players skip taking showers during the season to possibly avoid injury?

You can only go so far with this ****. I have mixed feelings on the Pro Bowl now, and wouldn't be opposed to seeing the actual game nixed in favor of a week vacation in Hawaii with a banquet and award ceremony (or something). But that doesn't mean I fault anyone who plays in the game as it is right now or consider them stupid for doing it. I'd like to see you pass up the opportunity to show your face in that game, if you were an NFL star elected to his first all-star game. Every one of us would go, play, and play hard, and we know it.

Wasn't this year supposed to be the season where you guys had a chip on your shoulder and were super motivated to win?

yup

and only won 18 games

hopefully we do better next year.

And win they did, unfortunately our lovely local media (TOMASE, I'm looking at you, fatboy) decided to publish a "bombshell" that had no substance whatsoever the day before the Super Bowl, and I kind of think the air got taken out of the sails a little bit. A little mind you, the Giants played the game of their lives and were the best team in that game, unfortunately the Pats looked more beaten down than fired up from the opening drive of that game, and I will forever detest the Herald and fatboy Tomase for doing that to this team this year.

FWIW, it was a beach volleyball game, not flag football.

And as BP points it, it was league-sanctioned.

Pats going 12-4 in 08 (no records broken) plus a SB is way better then an 18-1 disappointing 07, no?

Yes, it is. Although a bye would still be nice to have, and I'm not sure that 12-4 does that anymore.

You guys had a heck of a run and played great until playing below your standards in the SB. Weird b/c I hear a lot of pats fans say that the Pats will be extra motivated for next year and the NFL should watch out. Its like some of you feel that that factor alone is going to put the Pats in SB 43

I think "some" of us feel like we are Patriots fans, and that we hope our team is in the Super Bowl every year. With the QB and coach we have, it's not the weirdest thing to hope for, either.

Wes Welker is good for like 8 wins alone, anyways.

P.S. did you know that this is a Patriots forum?

Just figured it out. I hope your joking about the welker statement. I like welker a lot but he is a really good #2 WR which puts him around 15-20 among top wr's right now

I wonder if reporters will ever realize that their job is NOT to sell newspapers, but to report the facts:rolleyes:

Feel free to quote me when the Patriots win less than 8 games in a season with Wes Welker starting.
