Coaches of teams supposed to do well are almost disqualified. 16-0, if we do it, with no use from the camera is the Coach of the Year whether he's voted as such or not.
Coach of the year comes down to these guys.
Belichick
Crennel
Jauron (would have been if not missing out on the playoffs)
McCarthy (i dont really think he should win the award honestly)
Jack Del Rio
To me, going 16-0 would make ANY coach an automatic for NFL Coach of the Year. If BB goes undefeated and is not named COY, the selection process will be exposed as pure politics. Who votes, anyway? Is it sportswriters?
It's a regular season award - we might do something that's never been done before, never, in the regular season. It comes down to two guys :
Belichick.
Not Belichick.
The only reason to vote for someone else is hatred and jealousy of the only legit candidate.
Have you paid any attention to the jobs Jauron has done in Buffalo, or McCarthy in Green Bay. They are ABSOLUTELY legitimate candidates. Pats have hellacious talent, and while I think BB is a perfectly good candidate for Coach of the Year, I don't think it's a slam dunk even if there was no Spygate. He'd be the favorite, but not a slam dunk.
Frankly, I'm SHOCKED Buffalo didn't go 2-14 this year after the way their season started. They lost a ton of starters to IR before even the 3rd or 4th week. It was unbelievable...
Yes I have. Buffalo has done fine but they have zero wins against teams that are currently over .500. Zero. GB has a few good wins but they're a fairly talented team themselves.Have you paid any attention to the jobs Jauron has done in Buffalo, or McCarthy in Green Bay.
If they Patriots go 15-1 you are correct. Until we lose a game no-one else should be in the conversation. They are ABSOLUTELY legitimate candidates.
I just read on ESPN.com that BB should be COY, and this little nugget:
"the more we hear about this spygate thing, the more it looks like going 70 in a 45 MPH zone"
What Jauron and McCarthy have done is very good, but it's been done before. If Belichick coaches a team to an accomplishment that has never been done before there is no question he is most deserving of the award.
