Im a big no on lamar jackson...

Lamar has been asking out of Baltimore since December 4, 2022.

He stunk. He threw TD passes down 3-33 and 10-47. He had 0 TDs and 2 INTs when the game still meant something. His fan club has been tripping over themselves trying to excuse away the opening drive pick by Hyde. Some nonsense about Agholor not fighting for the ball.

Draft a WR in the 1st round and go into camp with an open competition for QB1. Whoever wins (Zappe) will have a decent WR group with Juju, Parker, Bourne, 1st rd WR rookie, Henry, Gesicki, and Stevenson.
Love how we've just tossed the high draft pick from ONE YEAR AGO in the trash because he didn't set the league on fire after being slowed by an injury out of training camp and the 'advanced' Matt P offense.

They should want him gone, they just want something in return, nobody else is willing to pay for it.

If Justin Herbert said he wanted off the Chargers tomorrow, roughly half the league would be there with draft picks in hand to make it happen.

There are good to great WR's found throughout the entire draft, no need to spend a first on a position that historically has the highest failure rate of any position in the draft.

Mac Jones's playoffs performance is largely irrelevant to the fact that you should not give the Ravens two 1st-round picks for Lamar's right + pay him over 150M of guaranteed money.

Is Jackson an upgrade on Jones? Most definitely. Is that upgrade worth two 1st-round picks + the contract? Meh.

Yes, I'm in the camp calling Thornton a bust. I don't see the potential. Image trying to trade him right now? Maybe a 6th for him. Bad investment. But still, I want the team to double down at WR and take one in the 1st round this year.

Sure, but I don't think either of them are winning the SB.
Well, at least you would make the straight up trade. Thank you for replying. I like this better than the ubiquitous 'I Don't Agree.'

Well, you're sending them Mac too. Does it have to be two 1st round picks? What would be a fair trade in your mind? I think Mac, this year's 1st, and next year's 2nd for Lamar is fair. Plus the fat contract for Lamar (but try to leave that aside while just evaluating the trade compensation).

Is that worth 150 million and 2 of Sony Michel, Isiah Wynn, KNeal Harry, Cole Strange?

The crapshoot is who are the picks becoming?

I would bet in ten years Mac or Zappe or both will have more playoff victories than Lamar does.

Lamar has one playoff victory in 5 seasons on a good team, what happens if he's traded to a bad or average team?

Not for $250 fully guaranteed... that's the sticking point. I like Herbert too, but I would take Lamar over him by a slight advantage.

Trade up a few (or more) spots for Quentin Johnston. Size, speed, literally plus measurables all around... he's going to be a beast right away.

LOL! on Mac. Zappe maybe, in his brief appearance, he looked like he may have something. Lamar is obviously more likely to have the better NFL career than both... he's already way ahead.

He's make them good instantaneously. Give the guy some WRs for once. Not the scrubs you're about to mention either but some legitimate WRs.

Lamar Jackson is 45-16 as a starter, taking a tiny sample of playoff games as a reason why you wouldn't want him is stupid considering the Patriots with Brady in his peak years couldn't win one for 10 years it's not that easy.

The Ravens have also been absolutely AWFUL at the skill positions, even worse than what the Patriots have rolled out at their worst.

They have special teamers like Duvernay playing key WR roles.

The draft has always been a crapshoot, someone literally wrote a book with the phrase as the title back in 2017.

Sony ran us to a ring in 2018. Pretend for moment he stayed completely healthy, do you think the Pats pay massive dollars to him or Nick Chubb when they become free agents? No, is the answer.

Cole Strange played the third most offensive snaps on the team last season and played well for a rookie.... he's a certified bust in your opinion?

Lamar had some WR's and TE's, he sucks at passing when it matters. He is inaccurate and throws somewhat in the vicinity of receivers, great QB's lead receivers and place the ball in their hip pocket.

Lamar can't pass for accuracy. Now you're about to mention TD's back in 2019... four years ago.

Honestly, it will cost a premium, no matter how you slice it.

You have to pay the Ravens assets + give Lamar a contract he will accept.

And THEN you have to factor in that he is huge injury risk, that his style of play is not sustainable long term AND that he never had any postseason success.

That's a lot of red flags to invest that kind of money/assets. You think it is worth it, I think it isn't. If he were a straight up free agent not under the tag? Yeah, you make a bid and you see if you can get him. It would be a no brainer. You HAVE to try. Now? I mean, sure, you need to make your homework and evaluate the cost, but I do not think Lamar Jackson is worth the money + the assets. To me, he is a fast depreciating asset whose best years might be behind him. He might be 26, but he has 5 years off NFL milleage on those legs.

Lamar is a better passer than Mac Jones, Mac Jones does nothing better than Lamar Jackson except whine and lose.

This will be determined going forward, not by looking back at Lamar's one good season back in 2019.

Michel ran hard but I’m of the belief if you are not looking at an elite running back you are not taking him In the first round.

Running back is more plug and Play to me.

Cole Strange is a player that has some great athleticism for the position if he can gain weight without losing his movement skills he could become a very good player.

That being said I am of the school that first round picks are franchise difference makers.
A guard, a decent running back is not a franchise difference maker selling jerseys or impacting games more than a franchise QB, a Franchise CB, Franchise DE.
If I have a shot at Lamar Jackson or Will Levis and I don’t take that to see year 3 of Mac Jones I better be damn sure I’m looking at a top 10 QB ceiling.

The AFC East has gotten very strong this isn’t the same division that Bill coild
Trot out Kenbrell Thompkins even with Tom and expect to win because he is the smartest man in the room.
It takes players maybe more today than it ever has.
Problem with being the smartest guy in the room you can believe that nobody else can get one by you til they do.

You can talk about stats and numbers but the facts are when Lamar plays the Ravens win 75% of their games.

He's a guy who wins 3 out of every 4 over his career.
