Mortensen: Rodney Harrison to be suspended 4 games for Human Growth Hormone

Anybody else share my petty, contemptible wish for a whole group of suspensions so that Rodney doesn't have to bear the brunt of the scorn?

Sure as hell do. And DaBruinz does too.

I'm sure there will be many other suspensions (hope no more from our team!). Hopefully, this will give trollish fans of other teams pause before they run their mouths over here....it would be supremely naive to believe their own teams' players were clean.

From what I can tell so far, no other group of fans is being too gleeful about it. I think they all know they can't say for 100% certainty that no player on their team has ever used.

Great post Bolts Fan.

I'm cool with Sanders holding it down till Rodney returns.

We're still stacked on both offense and defense.

This is true. As a Bolts fan I always liked Rodney and it's unfortunate that this has happened. RH is manning up and it will be forgotten in due time. You'll be alright.

I just wish more pats fans could have shown a little more class when the Merriman episode occured. I'm not gonna dig up old threads but it wasn't pretty. I know you'll all keep your heads up and get thru this.

On another note, how do you feel about RH's replacement?

Well, considering Rodney has only played in a handful of games the past two seasons, we've been able to see a lot of James Sanders. And he's been impressive in both these showings and in camps/preseasons. So we're fairly comfortable with him back there. Just disappointed it won't be Rodney.

I'd bet every fan knows every team has multiple players who could be suspended for the same thing. Most opposing fans may be irritating but they aren't stupid.

Wow. At least he used it to heal injury and not for performance.

I'm guessing this was after the huge knee injury.

I support him but still a stupid idea in first place.

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day if that report from PFT is true.

Yeah, like I said I don't remember the situation very well (honestly I'd forgotten all about it until it was brought up tonight) but now we are seeing why it is a terrible idea to gloat over another team's misfortune, particularly with something like this because of all the speculation that this stuff is used a lot in the NFL. Tomorrow, it could be your team.

Yes and no.

We all KNOW that HGH is used through-out the league though we may not be privy to its actual use. In my eyes, if the league is coming down on Rodney, it damn well better be coming down on all the big names there are. They can't afford to ****y-foot around on this the way that MLB did with steroids.

And honestly, if they ONLY go after Rodney, then, in my opinion, they did it to make him a scape goat.

There is one thing I do wonder, though. I'm assuming Rodney, when he was rehabbing his first knee injury, shoulder injury, and second knee injury, was involved heavily with the Pats' training/rehab staff.

Did they know about this?

Who knows what they knew. However, Rodney did imply that they didn't by saying that he didn't tell anyone...But that doesn't mean that someone didn't catch him at some point...

That's good to hear. I'm sure we all want to see us meet with both teams at relative full strength. ;)

And when Rodney retires sometime in the next year or two, it will be James Sanders who'll you'll be seeing a lot of in these matchups.

so HGH is not a steroid? But it is banned...

Can someone with a medical background explainthe difference?

This kinda sucks. I bet he'll appeal it and they'll find out it was being used as a treatment for some of his various injuies. Then Rodney will have the games removed and we'll never hear the end of it from Colts' fans that Rodney is on 'roids. The End.

I don't excuse Rodney for what he did and I'm still a bit disappointed. Still, I don't blame him either given the brutal nature of the sport and what he's been through the past three years. And from the sound of it, he'll beat himself up in the next few days over this mistake than his worst distractors. In a way, I'm thankful that Rodney didn't revert to the antics of so many others - the "I was set up like a mudder-bleep" tripe. Rather, he dealt with this with brutal honesty, honor and dignity, and I respect and appreciate the guy even more for this.

If I had to pick one image that properly signifies this most improbable and astonishing Pats as dynasty era, it still is the following above all else.

See you in Week 5, 37!!!

Ya, true dat. I doubt any Charger fan is gloating right now. Merriman's circumstance was really hard to handle because it was clear that it was about tainted supplements. He only tested positive one time. GNC remains on the banned substance list because of it.
