Honest to God, I can't remember a prospect who seems more like a Patriot than this kid.

Obviously it wouldn't be drafting a need (if he is even there) but this dude is like a jacked up Edelman.

Would be nice. But with his dad a Bronco?

It's a great year for RB. Top end and depth. Almost certain we'll draft one before we're done with the (assuming we get it as expected) 3rd round comp pick for Collins. Assume we'll try to re-sign LG for one year again and combine with the draft pick and the other guys we have but if LG gets a better offer this could be the moving on point.

Definitely not trying to undervalue LG but this is the draft to get younger legs and LG may get a multi year offer out of this season.

The way Bradys been playing I would trade Jimmy to the Browns for Gordon and a 2nd rounder, I think Brady can play his contract out at an MVP level which expires in 2020 after the '19 season

It used to be pretty common for multiple RBs to be selected in the 1st round, but the position feels a lot more fungible and it seems teams are investing less.

Multiple RBs were selected in the 1st round in every draft from the 1990s up to 2011, when only Mark Ingram went in the 1st. In the last 5 drafts, only twice were multiple RBs selected in the 1st round. The 2015 draft had Gurley and Gordon, and both have had good and bad seasons so we will wait to see what they really are. The 2012 draft had Trent "Sure Thing" Richardson, Doug Martin, and David Wilson.

Assuming Fournette who is also coming out will be the #1 back taken, there's a decent chance McCaffery falls to us, or within range to trade up. The Broncos could be in play for him as well. C.J. Anderson only has 1 more year of guaranteed money and a $2.9M cap hit in 2017 before it jumps to $4.5M with no guaranteed money in 2018 and 2019. They could cut him as well in 2017 with only $1.7M in dead money.

I would love to see McCaffery in a Patriots uniform, but still not sure if I'd want to spend a 1st to see that happen.

Would be nice to draft, but I think DE, LB, CB,and TE are bigger priorities at this point.

Would think a tight end would address that a bit more directly…

Yes but I'm talking more about game changing ability than position, unfortunately or fortunely for us a tight end like Gronk is one of a kind and don't come out of the draft so often like good receivers like Amary Cooper for example.

Yeah. Always tough for the pats to get game changers where they end up picking anyway…

yall acting like teh league wont find a way to take away our first for the next draft.

Priority #1 for the Pats HAS to be rebuilding the defensive front 7 with high level young prospects. It should NOT be about finding a 4th RB regardless of the fact he'd be an excellent addition. We cannot afford luxuries in the first 3 rounds. I'd be OK in drafting a high risk/reward guy in the 2nd, but not if he's not on the defensive side of the ball.

That being said McCaskey is one of the few college players I would watch for a while. No doubt he'd nake a great Patriot, but I'd be building a team and not collecting athletes. And for THIS team, McCaskey in the first 2 rounds is a luxury this TEAM simply can't afford (sign me up though, if he drops into the late 3rd)

McCaffrey :)

Long way to go until the draft, we have a ton of cap space and have no idea how it will be spent in FA before the draft so our needs could well change. I don't think we'll end up with him but he's definitely a "team not athlete" guy, not that he's not a good athlete but he can do everything and gets every yard that's there so he'd be a very good example of "building a team not collecting talent".

One thing on the front seven, after flaming out (long term, we did win a SB) with Jones, Collins and Easley, I'm not sure Bill will be looking for high round flash athletes anymore. If we do try to rebuild the front seven I'm not sure it will be as high as you're thinking and if it is I think it will be the hard working non exciting types over the athlete.

DL has to be priority, especially with the realistic chance of landing a blue chip prospect. After that we could do with an OT and ILB or two.
