For those who may not be aware, the NFL Youtube channel has been posting full broadcasts of a Super Bowl each Tuesday.

Today they posted Super Bowl XXXVI Pats vs Rams.

This is great news for those who couldn't get their hands on the "Greatest Pats Games" DVD set and don't have a copy of the game (I have a copy but it was VHS, poor quality).

I recommend you check out the games that have been posted in prior weeks too! Each Friday they post some other 'non Super Bowl' classics.

Rams rated number 1 in offense and Pats 24th on Defense. Some of todays posters would have a nervous breakdown over that defense.

If we're being honest you can't count me as part of the group that was pleasantly shocked to see the Pats win.

The Rams were no. 1 in offense and I think something like no. 3 in defense too. They were the whole package and if you look at the 2001 Pats team their roster was mediocre.....a bunch of blue collar guys that played hard. Ultimately they found a way to get the job done and it all came together as a thing of beauty in this Super Bowl. That year the Pats did something that will probably never be replicated.....their offense scored only three touchdowns in the entire playoff run.

Scary but the 2007 Pats team was 1st and 4th. The giants were 16th and 7th.

Wish i could find a widescreen HD version of this game

Would really appreciate full broadcast of Patriots-Raiders from 12/18/76.

Would educate anyone watching for the first time.

You won't be able to find an HD version. That Super Bowl was the last one that wasn't broadcasted in HD. ABC and CBS broadcasted Super Bowls 34 and 35 in HD, but FOX decided it wasn't worth the investment. FOX tried to sell their widescreen format as being HD, but it still was the same spec as standard definition (480i) but spread to a widescreen format (16 X 9).

1) Ah, it was great to see that again. Was a little weird, though. Found myself saying "Oh, that's DPI. Well, nope. Oh, that's DPI. Well, nope. Oh, that's DPI. Well, nope..."

2) Anyone have a recommendation for some good YouTube download extensions for Firefox or Chrome? I need to snarf it before it disappears.

youtube-dl FTW

this is one of those memories where you know exactly where you were and who you were with when the ball split the uprights

I had to work the next morning... I remember getting to work and my (awesome) boss said "I smell booze on on you, are you still drunk?"

Thank you. I am now...

thank you, nice find

Imagine a time...

...when kickoffs were a real play...

...when defensive players were allowed to hit offensive players...

...when the announcers treated the Patriots like little kids lucky to be at someone else's coronation...

mmmm....

....delicious. :D

Worst advice ever:

"You have to play for overtime."

...and/or earlier, when Pat Summerall announced to those in attendance, and those watching on TV, and to the world, "...And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, choosing to be introduced as a team, here are the American Football Conference champions, the New England Patriots..." Win or lose, that expression of unity will stand as one of the greatest moments in football history. Ironically, it epitomizes Tom Brady's legacy, despite the fact that he stands in highly exclusive company as one of the greatest individuals to play a team sport.

And, at least in terms of local media, and the franchises' contemporary behavior, no, Boston does not deserve having him, Russell, Orr and Ruth.

You just want to see the old uniforms, win or lose. ;)

Seriously though, I've yet to see the '76 Raiders game, and while I'm curious, I don't need anything else pissing me off these days. That said, there are lots of people who would love to revisit history, so I'm sure you're not alone in the desire for such a famous game.
