The "Trade deadline" thread excitement ensues :D

Dear NFL,

You say you want to establish parity. You took our first-round pick and suspended the G.O.A.T. for four games.

I'm sorry. You have failed. Here the Patriots are, 7-1 going in to the bye week with our team mostly healthy and three games clear of our only division rivals.

It's too easy for me. And, just to prove it, I'm going to take the best player on my defense and trade him to the worst team in football for no more than I'd have got had he walked in free agency.

So there!

Love,

Bill

Awaiting Haden AND Thomas to finish the trade:D

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!

Only a 3rd round compensatory? Is this a freaking joke?

I can't defend this trade. At best all the Pats did was get the compensatory pick they would have gotten a year early. I know they risked losing him in the offseason, but unless they make a big move by tomorrow this hurts the Pats' Super Bowl chances this year to get a third round compensatory pick a year early.

I will wait for the other shoe to drop, but this isn't a good deal in a vacuum.

There's nothing wrong with paying your elite talent, Bill. Look at Seattle and the Donkeys. I 've actually been able to enjoy watching the defense at times. I'd rather not see it revert to 2009-2012 form.

for a third rounder??????????? come on bill, at least get joe thomas in the deal.

mind boggling move. poor jamie, from the best team to the worst. so strange..

There is much more to this than meets the eye... it is one of those behind closed doors thing.

Richard Seymour anyone??

A CONDITINAL THIRD ROUND PICK....WHAT THE FCK, hes one of the best LBs in football.. I can see this move screwing up chemistry of the team on what is turning out to be a great championship run. This team bonded over the brady suspension now who knows.

of course some in the media trying to explain it.

Wow, shocked like everyone else.

Pros:
-Roberts has looked really good.
-We traded for Van Noy so maybe we think highly of him.
-Mingo? great STer, can he help with the pass rush?
-Collins has a history of injuries
-Contract
-play this year has not been at a Pro-Bowl level

Cons:
-Short term, our defense is not the 85 Bears can we afford to lose him.

At this point, i can't question BB, he's right on this more than he's wrong, but still befuddled

Team better pray HT doesn't miss a game for the rest of the year.

One more thing, the only other way this makes sense is if the Pats expect to be a major player in free agency next offseason and figure they will not get the third round compensatory pick because of the players they sign.

I swear to god if Tom puts us in a position to win again come January and the defense lets him down ONCE AGAIN then i'm going to lose it.
