I could be wrong, but I'm ok with BB thinking that AJ Derby's not going to be the piece that puts the Broncos over the top...
You're probably right. I just hate dealing with the donkeys. BB is a better man than I.

Exactly. If aj derby is the difference from winning or losing in January, the margin is already too slim.

Probably not going to be a starter there but it kinda if made me think of a Bledsoe to the Bills kind if a move. Maybe thinking he will be more harm than good for them and we get a pick too.

Derby showed some flashes. He doesn't have to be the difference in denver. Just give them a presence in that offense.

Since then:
- Traded a 2016 draft pick with Seattle to re-obtain the 4th rounder
- Traded Derby to the Broncos to re-obtain the 5th rounder
- Traded Bostic to the Lions to re-obtain the 7th rounder conditionally.... but the conditions weren't met
- Traded a 6th rounder to the Lions to finally re-obtain the 7th rounder along with Van Noy
- Released Clay Harbor which allows them to obtain a 6th round compensatory pick (most likely) for Hicks

So they're just resetting the cupboard to where it should be. 7 rounds, 7 picks. Plus Jimmy G in hand for now. I could expect something similar in the future to try to finagle a 2018 3rd or 4th rounder to make up for the Rowe trade.

They won't have to do anything for Rowe's pick. Will get at least one 3rd round comp pick .. Im afraid

Woah. That's like a Sox/Yankees trade. The thought of BB & Elway on the phone discussing trade lol tense.

I liked Derby in the preseason and don't like the idea of improving Denver. Hopefully it's a decent pick.

The curse of the TE Bambino ?

I hate this trade. Not that I was expecting anything from Derby, but we could potentially be making Denver a better team and we still have to face them this season and could face them again in the playoffs. Yuk.

He fits Broncos more than the Pats. And they will use him this year. They could use a pair of good hands and a nose for the ball with few top targets and serious drop in receivers behind them ..

EDIT: What I like about BB is that he doesn't mind getting somebody else better .. and just focuses on getting his team better. It's not modern time ethics and probably sounds strange to a lot of people .. like his love for tablets ..

Wow, Thor, impressive!
(Unless you secretly (to us) work in the Pats front office...)

It's more of a replenishment than bundling to move up. They had already lost a 2017:
- 4th rounder due to the Moron
- 5th rounder due to the Mingo trade
- 7th rounder due to the Michael Williams trade from 2015

Surprised we made a deal with Denver, Bill showing confidence in his team;);)
Exactly. I don't think BB would have made the deal with DEN if he thought AJ was the missing piece in DEN's offense.

I don't like it. he was a nice depth piece and insurance for gronk and bennet.

Wow...a 5th rounder for someone who's never even contributed a meaningful snap!?!

The Donkeys must really like him...question is, why didn't we?

Actually, there are 2 reasons.

Not bad value but I like a 4th a lot more than a 5th. I think there is a pretty big drop off there.

Personally I don't think it hurts us much though i was interested to see if Derby could turn into something. I just hope this means they plan to keep Bennett.

OH NO we lost Patrick Cobbs I mean AJ Derby!

broncos don't seem to utilize their TEs too much. they have a combined 17 receptions for 183 yards and 1 TD in 7 games. don't know if it's scheme or lack of talent.

if they usually use their TEs for blocking, well we know derby isn't so great on that front.
