Grissom and Flowers

I don't get what BB sees in Grissom, but Flowers looked good. I see Grissom as more of a subrushing piece because he's small.

Flowers, meanwhile, plays big, can set the edge and get pressures.

Just my .02 with my brief experience watching these guys last preseason.

Long is a total wild card with me. Nothing would surprise me with him.

Why is he a wild card? His contract was up in STL, he is healthy, will be used less, and his passrushing skills with a chance at a ring on a 1 year deal, points up, not down.

I could see him being here for 2017, too, on the same kind of a deal.

Grissom is 6-4 270. There is nothing small about him.

Now if you think he isn't any good that is another discussion.

Long hasn't had a healthy or productive season in two years. Sorry but my optimism is not there for him to make a substantial impact.

With that said, with less of a workload and not as much 3-down responsibility it might get him through the season healthy and fresh.

Thus why I think he is wild card.

It is small to play inside, which he did last season and he got overpowered. As at Oklahoma, he looks to me like a great athlete without a position. It will be interesting to see where they use him this year. In very limited looks last pre-season, Flowers and Johnson both looked strong outside and better to me than Grissom. Some good competition up front this year.

Agree on Flowers > Grissom on the outside.

I think Grissom is more of a hybrid-type.

That's an interesting theory, and if there's some truth there, it may have factored into the release of Dominique Easley. Did Grissom get any reps on the interior last season? I don't remember seeing any.

By the way, isn't it strange that Easley is still unsigned? Talk about damaged goods.

I think they did try Grissom as an interior pass rusher a little bit last year. I remember seeing him lined up there during his limited snaps a few times anyway. When you look at his scouting reports coming out of college it kind of makes sense to try him in that role. He's basically a straight line player with a good first step but I think he struggles when he has to play in space. If he's able to add some good weight without losing his quickness he could be an interesting player as an interior pass rusher

Wazzu!

Welcome!

This is bizzaro world in here compared to BDC, in the best way, with educated Pats fans, little to no trollwork and normal moderation and discussion.

A complete 180 where we came from.

Sure, fair, I just think he is healthy by all reports, had numerous offers and chose NE for obvious reasons for less money.

I'll take the odds he's a Mark Anderson from 2011 type but better.

Hey Russ.
Yeah I agree. This seems to be a very good forum with very good and knowledgeable fans. Solid football conversations like the one we're having in this thread.

Actually, that compares quite favorably with one of my binkies this year, Brandin Bryant. Bryant is a little shorter and stockier, but he was a terrific interior pass rusher. Seattle picked him up. Maybe we can use Grissom in a similar fashion?
