There's noway he should give up any money.Wondering what will happen with Edelman. I would imagine something will have to happen relatively soon and I am not sure how it will go. He's what 29? And there is also a fairly lengthy list of injuries in his career.
He is and has been a definite bargain (which I am sure he and his agent are very aware of) but his contact is up when he is 31? I wonder if they extend him before that or let him play it out and low ball him. I love Edelman and I am pretty sure he loves it here too but I wonder if he will be willing to take a hometown discount after being underpaid for a few years already. You'd think he'd restructure? Unfortunately for him his playing in the past years dictate his market, he didn't have much options, if he didn't agree he would get the same kind of offer in the market. Might as well keep playing for a winning team instead of going to Tampa or Cleveland.
There is a good maket for a multi positional player who only cares about winning and has a superbowl ring. You may be right but I think someone would pay more for him than the pats.
writing seems to be on the wall for Aaron Dobson... Only thing I would change is that perhaps Lucien or another makes practice squad (maybe even mitchell?)
In my eyes it is Dobson vs. Martin for final spot..
from earlier in post - this is mine as well..

Lets be honest, folks. Pats deserve a little credit too.
While we all love DA, the market for a 30 1/2 year old WR who is a bit on the fragile side was most likely not better than what the Pats offered.
Seeing how he is basically making $4m per for the next two seasons, I highly doubt he would have gotten that now on the market. Maybe in March but not now.
They kinda had him by the nuts but gave him a pretty good deal.
Yeah, Slater had a bit of a down year because of injuries. That tends to happen as players get to 30. Hopefully he will have a couple more healthy years.Yep. King is outstanding.
Slater was banged up a lot last year. Hope he isn't wearing down
Dobson is one of the biggest BUSTS in NE Patriots football...time to finally cut this guy loose...so he can go work for Stop and Shop and pull a hammy loading groceries.....
In any case, Dobson is injury prone and is about 8th in the WR depth chart. Cut him now before he is injured yet again and we owe him money for 2016.
To put it another way, many players have been cut who had a better chance of making the roster than Dobson. It is time to move on.
As one of Aaron Dropson's Biggest supporter's around here I say why cut him when we can afford to see what he's got. Lets say Aaron knows that this is a make or break season for him in the NFL Period! I heard he worked out with DeAndre Hopkins this Offseason Hopkins is one of the Best young WR's in the Game. We'll see if Dobson learned anything...I am holding out hope that he comes around he should know the Offense by now and I think he'll get every opportunity to win the X-WR Position.
Huge cap savings.

His new cap number this year is $2,916,666. So #Patriots save $3.4m in cash and $3.9m in salary cap on Amendola
Miguel had guessed less than that :

Still waiting for Amendola's numbers to come in. Expect cap savings of between 2 and 3 Milloy
I'm not a Volin fan either but he's usual solid with his numbers info. Way more savings than we were expecting.
It remains to be seen if this restructure results in a significant extension or two.
