OT: ****dell denies Chiefs appeal (Clark Hunt betrays Chiefs fans, won't sue)

We draft a player who grew up a Broncos fan do we worry if he'll cheat to help the Broncos win? We don't cause he's got his career on the line.

I'm convinced the league is corrupt but only so far as trying to 'fix' the product which Belichick has found a way to undermine because it all comes down to $$, not which team wins.

If the league turns a blind eye to the Jets I've got to believe it's only because of the market they are in. To imagine grown men risking their careers and hundreds of millions of dollars to help a certain team win because of rooting interest seems bizarre to me. There's too much on the line for me to buy into the NYJFL truther movement and I loooooove a good nutball conspiracy.

I'd agree with your logic as far as players go. But the NYJFL front orifice, please . . be real.

Market-based decision theory doesnt support how Al Davis raiders were treated badly, nor do you see "unique" decisions leaned toward the other NY market team, nor essentially ANY of the other 31.

And your 'risking their career' comment, RISK HOW EXACTLY? If your Boss, his Boss, and Bosses boss all like things a certain way, its not exactly a hi-threat environment. Especially if big boss thinks he cant be fired/has no boss. Blatter and his crew didnt have ANY compunctions about blatantly rigging Fifa Cup locations for money for years. They were grown men too, and they only got caught because a non-soccer powernation, but World power (USA) got around to indicting and subpoening evidence, otherwise would still be Sepp's crew there. I have no doubt (particularly based on their actions - Kensil of the "you're f-ing ging down" quote) that these yahoos feel very safe in their jobs.

Sign me up for the conspiracy train, I'm all on board.

So are only Pats and Chiefs' fans interested in this?

I just checked GangGreen and there isn't a thread about this at all.

Thats because the Jets never get punished for anything.

Conspiracies are hard things to keep quiet. A leak to Vice or some other rag doing actual journalism about how the NFL was fixed would be the biggest story of this and several other decades. I'm guessing there would probably be criminal charges somehow too.

That's a lot to risk cause you like one team more than another.

Goodell is further cementing that any decision he makes will eventually lose in a court. Courts love consistancy in applying the rules, anything that looks arbitrary or capricious usually gets slammed in a court. All of Goodell's decisions are arbitrary and capricious. Imagine if you were a neutral arbitrator and you had the two cases of the Jets owner publically saying they are going after another teams player and then miraculously they have him signed five minutes into free agency (The Pat's had an option on Revis, so we would not have been considered a "pending free agent" for the leagal tampering period) without ever discussing terms. It was so egregious that even #1 Jet fan himself Goodell found them I violation and gave them a stern warning and a small fine.

Now comes the Cheifs, who violated the legal tampering period by actually talking to a player during the legal tampering period instead of talking to his agent.

Which one of these two scenarios would you consider for the harsher punishment?

I can't believe that the 32 owners do not see the damage this guy is doing to the league. They have millions of dollars in unnecessary legal costs, bad PR, and have basically lost ever single court case.

Soon the 2nd circuit will hand them another loss, maybe then Goodell will finally lose his job.

Fail thread

The Chiefs are a stupid franchise who called Maclin directly by passing his agent. Virtually all NFL teams tamper in one way or another. Most if not all make it impossible to get caught. Revis signed with NE the day after he was released by Tampa.

Say what you like at least Hunt tried instead of turtled.

I'll say that the result would have been the same if he appealed. And I think in his old age, he truly thought Goodell would go easy on Brady. That's not the case. It is what it is. The picks are gone. They're not coming back. Either root for your favorite football team or, if you're that upset by the decision not appeal, quit watching them....or at least stop complaining about it. That ship has long sailed.

I actually think it's York...:)

I hope the "useful" rating you received does not imply that someone is at work today discussing how Mr. York Hunt lost his appeal.

I'm not sure how much appeal ol' York has in the first place..

what you don't get is the fact that billionaire owners need to care about the feelings of internet trolls

I hope Kansas City fans are prepared for their team to be called the "Cheats" and for the media to bring up this incident on a consistent basis for the next decade or so.

They can also expect baseless speculation to be treated as solid evidence. For example, the league has never released any documentation or proof of tampering. This means the NFL is covering something up and the Chiefs are engaged in more underhanded activity. I mean, how else can you explain Alex Smith playing like a competent QB?

Oh, wait. While the Chiefs have been good over the past few years, they haven't been considered great. Never mind. This will largely be forgotten to by the end of the month.

Lurked and the Chiefs fans seem to hate Goodell as much as we do Chiefs Chiefs lose tampering appeal - ChiefsPlanet

and that's just a sample thread

I read that thread and I was surprised that there didn't seem to be anyone suggesting that maybe they should look at the Pats' penalties differently.

Some seemed resigned to the fact that they DID tamper, and even if the penalty was excessive, they thought getting Maclin was worth a 3rd round pick.

Maybe they need to get burned again before their blinders come off.

In somewhat twisted logic, Mike Florio say that the Chiefs losing this case shows that Kraft did the right thing in not appealing.

I disagree. It is ALWAYS better to stand up for the truth, even if it's destined to get you nowhere. Forever we will have to hear from the haters "but Kraft gave up on deflategate, so he admitted it"

It's pretty simple. If you feel your team didn't do anything wrong, and they are being wrongly persecuted, you fight that to the bitter end. Bob Kraft was all talk no action.

I think the fact Brady is fighting it helps undo some of that damage and it's helpful with the perception.

Tom needs to go all-in with his case even if he risks sitting for 4 games. No retreat, no settlement, no backing down. Perhaps a defamation suit is next.
