Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats use a couple of their 6th/7th round picks for some more reclamation projects of guys that were going to be cut anyway.lots of future comp picks!

There's certainly going to be guys that don't fetch you any picks. I think the idea is to put more of a focus on reclamation projects that you think will work out in your system vs. free agent signings. It's simply working the system on a level that most GMs don't even think about that adds a lot of flexibility and larger pool of potential players to sign.Especially now that comp picks are tradeable, Pats could basically just churn them like this at near-zero net cost if they really wanted to. Of course, that would require that their guys ended up almost exclusively in the Hicks pile, and not the Bostic pile.

One year rentals can easily turn into extensions. I think of them as one year tryouts instead.
you mean like Hicks? One year rentals can easily turn into extensions. I think of them as one year tryouts instead.
I feel like there should be a distinction drawn between one year rentals (Cooper, Bennett) and camp fodder (Kearse, Humber).
Yup, too bad the NFL will put a cap on how many comp picks a team can have. So we'll have 5 instead of 65Pats will have like 65 6th and 7th rounders in 2017

Yea I screwed up. Good catchActually, I don't see why they'd have any comp picks that year, even if Blount and Wendell sign with other teams.
2018, on the other hand ...
