It almost always comes down to money. I feel that Matthews is just saying that because it looks better.

The thing you dont seem to understand is that playtime/depth chart position will affect his next (and most probably last) FA contract. He thinks he will be able to showcase himself better with the Titans than with the Pats and thats only fair.

You got a player outright saying how it is and still you rather believe in those stupid narratives about the Pats being cheap.

In fairness, the offense took a dip but the defense substantially improved from 2012-2015 and is now a top 10.. so while the offense took a step back, the team as a whole is still well rounded.. but they definitely need to bolster the offense

Hogan is 6'1 1/8" and 221lbs. So he's got some size. He also runs the 40 in 4.5 (10 - 1.57, 20-2.63). Prior to signing with the 49ers as a UDFA, Hogan only had 1 year of football. But he had played Lacrosse for 4 years. He's spent the last 4 seasons with the Bills (2 on the PS).

Hogan's workout numbers are actually better than Lafell's and Hogan is still perfecting his route running abilities.

Hogan plays with a chip on his shoulder and works hard daily, from what I can find. I think he'd be a good depth signing and could push for a role as the outside WR or possibly a hybrid role like H-back.

Ok, so we're standing pat on the OL? Really? o_O

I don't even hear a whisper of activity there.
There going to basically bring back the entire starting offensive line and the narrative they will go with is "well they were injured" while ignoring they were mediocre at best when relatively healthy.

They call him 7-Eleven because he stays open. What's not to like?

They were awesome early in the season.

Well he plays lacrosse so he's already getting drool stains on his pants from BB

Forte wasn't going to come here and split the job with Lewis. It was never a possibility.

Wasn't that the whole point? ...to reduce the number of reps for Lewis per game?

Whoah I just got a time warp when I refreshed the page. There is still time!

Having both the starting T playing in their proper positions and Scar coaching up the young interior should be good enough.

Plus the young guys have another year under their belts.

SMH. The Pats invested serious draft capital (in terms of number of picks) in the O-line. The O-line was tormented by injuries last year to just about everyone except Andrews, I think. Solder was gone for the season. Vollmer missed games. Cannon missed games. Waddle missed the end of the season. Stork was put on the In season-IR. Jackson missed the end of the season. Kline was injured mid-season and missed games. Mason was hurt and missed a game. When every one of your O-linemen suffers injuries, not just hurt, what are you supposed to do? Think that the rookies in Andrews, Mason and Jackson won't get better?

I actually see the Pats looking to the draft again, in all honesty. The O-line and D-line prospects are actually pretty deep this year. And with the return of Scar, the young guys should be significantly better. As should the communication, which was clearly an issue throughout the year.

According to who? The point of Forte was to give them more of a receiving threat who can run the football with a little more umph.

For $4m/yr is Forte really worth 15-20 touches a game?

One of the knocks I've seen is that he would get open and not get the ball because of Tyrod Taylor being the QB. If he were to sign with the Patriots and continue to do that, but on the intermediate routes, people on here would be having orgasm left and right..

Which one of those teams won a SB??

Interesting point from Jeff Howe:

Jeff Howe ‎@jeffphowe
Heads up: The Patriots made 102 signings last season after the first day of free agency. So, hey, take it down a notch.
