Boomer, Phil Simms & Ed Reed on who's better, Brady or Manning (Hint, it's not Manning)

I saw that last night. It looked like Ed Reed wouldn't even entertain the idea that Peyton is even in the same tier as Brady. He would scoff at anyone that would make any excuses for the guy.

Smart dude.

Simms said Brady was more accomplished. Didn't say he was the better QB.

Exactly. I also think there has been a mutual admiration between the two for years. Plus he played against these guys so he has more of a knowledgable opinion than most.

We know who the better overall QB is, and that's not even close. Brady wins that debate, hands down. What I'd love is to have some component questions answered by those in the position to know (guys like Talib and Welker come immediately to mind), because I'd love to see where those people thought the comparative strengths and weaknesses show themselves.

Brady or Manning:

Better at game plan preparation
Better at pre-snap reads
Better at post-snap reads
More accurate over the course of a season
Smarter with audibles
Harder offseason worker
Better handler of (physical) pressure
Better handler of (non-physical) pressure
Better at in game adjusting when things aren't going well

Hasselbeck says Manning is superior at presnap reads. He is the utmost authority on Qb play.

They all (except for Ed) were working very hard to make it look like a real contest bewteen the two. After all, this IS an NFL show (even though it is on Showtime). They need to SELL the big story.

However, in the end they all picked Brady.

This.

Ed Reed sounded insulted that they even asked it lol. Then discounted pretty much every point anyone else tried to make.

I'd like to add...

Better leader in the locker room.
Better leader on the field.

Hasselbeck clearly has an issue with the Patriots and Brady. I'd love to know what it is, because it's strong enough that he can't hide it at all.

It really is something to listen to. It's almost like he has an allergic reaction or receives an electric shock if he says something positive or complimentary re: TB12

On Monday when he was on EEI, the drunks asked him about Manning and while TH did acknowledge that he has eroded physically, he is the GoAT at pre-snap reads. He went into the reasons why...which bled into some of the bullet points you called out. I think it was Minahane who asked legitimate follow up questions. Why does he consider Manning > Brady on presnaps reads? What is the difference? Brady throws less interceptions. Does that theoretically mean he is better at presnap reads? What does he do that TB12 doesn't?

TH practically turned into Captain Queeg on the stand and started talking about dropped passes, game plans and repeated what he said earlier. Pathetic.

Its clear EEI brings him in just to rile up the natives.

Manning is better at checking into a run...

Ed Reed is probably my favorite player who never suited up for the Patriots. There's a few other guys I can think of, but he's got to be at the top.
Yep, agreed.

Others of recent times would be Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Troy Polamalu, Charles Woodson & Patrick Willis

It's too bad we couldn't convince Reed to join us at the end of his career -- it might've even prevented a Ravens SB
