Steven Jackson!

They could cut any of the following to sign Jackson.
Eric Martin
Asante Cleveland
Leonard Hankerson
Darius Fleming
Sealver Siliga
Kitchen
I find it odd that they will sign Handerson and Kitchen just to cut them so soon. I know they have done it numerous times, but on the periphery, it does not make any sense.
I am not sure of how much Martin and Fleming are playing on special teams, but I assumed they were mainly on the team for just that.
Siliga? Is he carrying some injury for them to think of cutting him? Cleveland maybe.

I think Amendola might have let the cat out of the bag:

“He’s going to get all the help he can,” Amendola said. “As a new guy, try to be put in a position to succeed. That’s really the bottom line. He’s been in this offense before, too.”

Amendola then smirked and said, “Have we signed him? I don’t know what the deal is. Apparently, he’s still on the street.”

If Hankerson comes in and immediately shows he isn't willing to put in the effort I could see them cutting him. Same with Kitchen.

Martin has bounced back and forth between the practice squad and could easily do so again. No reason they couldn't do the same with Fleming.

Siliga? He's been the odd man out on the D-line since the acquisition of Hicks. He and Kitchen play the same position and I could see the Pats letting Siliga go since they added Kitchen..

I'm hopeful.

I don't think a contract is the issue.

There are three games left and he would be going to the playoffs playing for the team that is the favorite to represent the conference in the Super Bowl.

He already has more money than god. If he doesn't sign here it's because the team doesn't think he has enough left in the tank. If he leaves b/c of a contract issue then I don't want him.

My gut tells me that they have a deal in place but since it's Thursday it's too late to integrate him into the game plan.

With every hour that goes by without an announcement of Stephen Jackson being signed, my expectations of him coming here is diminished. If it was going to happen it would have happened very quickly. So either he didn't look good enough in his workout to be worth signing, or he didn't want to play for what the Pats were offering him. Either way the hold up is NOT a good sign

That's a very good point and quite possibly the case.

They will be managing his reps anyway and probably wouldn't use him much, if at all, vs Tennessee.

If they have another game in which they allow 3 non-offensive TDs and 35 unanswered points again I'll, I'll, I'll................. be mad

I still can't get that game out of my head... most humiliating Pats game since the Kansas City massacre

Absolutely.

I think Brown's improved play has also chewed into his playing time.

Even Branch gets better pressure on the QB.

All 3 provide a substantial improvement rushing the passer than Seal.

I'm a big Siliga fan, but the dude seems to have plateaued :(. He might be gone soon. He actually rushed the passer quite well before this year. Not sure what happened.

I'd kinda rather just sign any old jag instead. Steven Jackson has been toast ever since he landed in Hotlanta.

I also suspect that while he may be in great shape, he may need a few days to get close to "football shape".

Let's not get our hopes up too much.

The chances that Jackson has enough left in the tank to come in and help the Pats win a Superbowl is about as much chance that an undrafted rookie, with NO other offers will seal a Superbowl for you by making the biggest play, on the biggest stage, at the biggest point of the game.

So in other words, it would be a very Belichickian thing to do.

On a more serious note, The Butler Did It is actually ranked #2 for top SB plays of all time (I just saw it yesterday). The #1 play was the Tyree catch, believe it or not. Of course, these are the same clowns who had Elway running for a first down as #8. Do you think there might be a little bias there?

In 2013 and 2014 he was very good.

There was plenty of optimism for him to continue improving

Sealver Siliga: 2015 New England Patriots Secret Superstar?

I do wonder if the foot injury he had in 2014 and the off-season surgery has hindered his play.

As others have said - and the numbers show this he has not applied pressure to the QB as well has he had the past two years.

There is a bias...but that bias kinda goes both ways, if you know what I mean ;)

If I tried to be neutral, which is obviously hard for me, I would rank Butler's interception as the more impressive play, in terms of anticipation and pure skill. The Tyree catch was just fluky - nothing that required much from the player
