I agree wholeheartedly. Injuries can destroy an otherwise well staffed team, even with modest depth.
QB injuries are the most impactful.

Agree about my man Vince. The invisible man looks heavier than ever. With his Dad's early demise from diabetes, he needs to wrap up his football career and slim down like Bianca did. Live long & prosper, Vince.

Another guy that was invisible was Chandler Jones. He does seem to disappear for some games. Anyone who does a detailed review of All 22 or some such may be able to point out he was consistently double teamed, and if so I retract the observation.
Brown is one of the more outstanding LT's in the league and handled Jones one on one most of the game. Luckily, the DL is now deep enough that even a bad game by Jones can be overcome to the point where the opposing QB gets hit so often that he has to leave the game.

Once again I will point out how underrated Brandon Bolden is. Extremely useful player who was able to step in seamlessly when Blount went out. If he didn't play STs and concentrated solely on being a RB his performance would be acceptable, given the Pats pass game targets are healthy.

That said, if Blount is down for a while we need another RB asap. We can't have just two healthy RBs. Three was pushing it as it was.

I know I can't be the only person who looks at Robert Turbin and feels pangs of regret that we didn't sign him.

I saw that Coleman was active last night but don't remember seeing him play. Maybe the Pats didn't intend to play him unless absolutely necessary?

He was playing special teams. He just missed jumping on that muffed punt.

Did Vince Wilfork even play? I love VW, but the guy was invisible. Is anyone else getting tired of the JJ Watt love festival? Just name the team the Houston JJ Watts and get it over with. I am so glad that Watt didn't record a sack and didn't get a chance to do his dance and signature sack theatrics. The team is losing the game, but that's alright as long as Watt gets his sack.

The Pats made a concerted effort to establish the run. Blount had to grind out some tough yards and so did Bolden. It seems like the Pats still need some help in the area. Maybe James White is coming along?

Wilfork was invisible? He man-handled all 3 of the interior linesmen on different occasions allowing Clowney and Watt to put pressure on Brady. He also made a couple of plays behind the line..

Watt was double-teams all night long. But because he was, that allowed Clowney several shots on Brady. People down-playing Watt and Wilfork really need to take a step back and understand how the team game is played.

Fun win.
Hard to watch at times. Were there four official decisions overturned? That is really embarrassing. They were again just terrible. While I got more steamed about the bad calls against the Patriots, the incompetence seemed to be mostly unbiased. Bring back the replacements.

QB
How does Brady find Gronkowski on that cross-field throw? Gronkowski said, after the game, that he could not see Brady - how did Brady see him? And fire a perfect hit-him-in-the-visor pass? He took one huge (penalized) hit to the ribs from Watt, but none of the sacks were big hits. Really victimized by drops this year.

RB
Bolden looked really good in his limited action. Hit by Jared Crick and carried him, then three other defenders, an extra five yards. Got hit in the backfield and still turned the corner on another run. White looked good - scored up the middle against a tough goal-line defense, and looks good in space. In general a weakness, but they looked good against a mediocre run defense. White had that huge catch over the defender that was one of the overturned string of plays - great hands and leap.

WR/TE
LaFell's hands clearly are an issue - reverting to his Carolina baseline. Martin looks elusive. Amendola picks up nice yardage over the middle, knowing when to dart sideways and when to go low and dive forward to maximize yardage. Love it when teams don't cover Gronk, especially on third and long. Thanks guys. Smart to manage snap count, but he looked fine out there.

OL
Yikes. Vollmer seems to be playing left tackle like a right tackle - he rotates to the right after the snap. That's a problem when you put your back to the rusher. The Patriots switched from their OL rotation, and these guys still struggle with communication. Brady is getting hit and sacked a lot. Big weakness at tackle.

DL
Dominant. We came in hearing about Watt, Wilfork, Clowney, Mercilus, and left hoping Hoyer is OK. Crushed that offensive line. The DL keeps improving. Hicks and Branch keep getting better. Hope Easley is OK - didn't look terrible - he left lifting his leg up at the knee to stretch the thigh muscles - hopefully a muscle thing. Ninkovich did a great job diagnosing the wildcat plays - consistently hit the ball-carrier. Houston ran three or four, with zero success due to the Pats D-line.

LB
Mayo also showing improvement. I am frustrated that he is not wearing the green dot. He has clearly outplayed Freeney the past three weeks. A playoff rotation of Hightower/Collins/Mayo should be impressive.

Secondary
Butler and Ryan seemed to play a lot of man single coverage, and really shut Hopkins down. Butler is amazing playing to the end of the play - a couple big catches he was able to knock out as the receiver tried to pull the ball into his body. Couple of textbook pass defenses from Ryan. No noticeable impact from missing McCourty. New guy Leonard Johnson looked really good - two big break-ups in big situations.

Special teams
Another muffed punt; Martin playing the role of Harper - Houston got the ball around the 20 and didn't score. Nice. With all the block-in-the-back penalties, really encourages an auto fair catch whenever you are leading. Amendola was all over the field catching short sideline punts in traffic - why not just knock some of those out of bounds rather than risk racing to field the ball surrounded by defenders? The Houston kicker didn't have the leg for a 54-yard attempt - that is surprising now that kickers seem to convert those routinely.

Also felt they blew the second Replay Review on White's catch on the Sidelines. White's entire right foot and the toes on his left foot came down inbounds with White holding the ball. That's a catch. Period. It shouldn't matter if his heel comes down OOB after the toes touch.

It does matter. Toes-only are treated differently than any other part of the foot. If any part of the foot other than the toe hits OOB it is not a reception.

Umm.. Bolden had 16 carries for 50 yards.. That's just over 3 YPC. 10 of Bolden's 16 carries went for 1 yard or less. I'd hardly call that "seamlessly" stepping in when Blount had 53 yards on 10 carries (5.3 ypc).

Except that no other part of the foot touched OOBs either. Go to the replay thread and catch up.. You're a few hours behind.

I was replying to your incorrect claim that even if White's heel had hit OOB it should have been called a reception. No, it should not have been.

Regarding the Fumble/Incomplete after the Challenge flag. No one said anythjing but I think that was a notorious "tuck" play. I was surprised that it wasn't mentioned, but this time the "Tuck" worked against the Pats, so the League didn't want to point that out.

I was thinking that too, but if attention was brought to it, the haters would just respond that the Pats deserved it after being the beneficiary of it against the Raiders.

That, and the fact the Robert Kraft is paying off the refs and has Goodell in his pocket.

We could mention the several times the Pats have been on the losing end of the tuck rule call but why bother?

The tuck rule actually has been abolished.

We have a very visible, very severe national security problem. No way the government sics the FBI on the one pastime that keeps the masses occupied when they should be using all their assets on the terrorism threats. Just the opposite, I suspect the government LOVES all the controversy generated by the NFL and Goodell the past few years.Keeps eyes over there and you can't see what's going on over here.

I have no doubt. Still, it's ridiculous that they haven't been investigated. There are plenty of agents that aren't on anti-terrorism teams etc. I'm even suprised a go get them DA or Governer hasn't started something. Just because we have a security problem (what else is new), doesn't mean that millions of people can or should be duped to watch a rigged or at the least heavily influenced sport.

At this point, Pittsburgh is the team I'd least want them to face postseason.

The New York Giants would be my nitemare matchup. I'm ok with the Steelers.

What game were you watching. Wilfork made 2 plays early in the game and wasn't a factor since. He is credited with 2 assists. Look for yourself New England Patriots at Houston Texans - December 13th, 2015 | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Vince is no longer the disruptive force that he once was.

Sorry, but my statement stands.. If the player comes down with his toes inbounds, then it shouldn't matter if his heal comes down out of bounds. It should be no different than a player dragging his toes.

RULE 3, Section 2, Article 7, Item 1.

A player is in possession when he is inbounds and has a firm grip and control of the ball with
his hands or arms.

Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3:

A player who makes a catch may advance the ball. A forward pass is
complete (by the offense) or intercepted (by the defense) if a player, who is inbounds:
(a) secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground; and
(b) touches the ground inbounds with both feet or with any part of his body other than his hands; and
(c) maintains control of the ball after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled

Here is a perfect example. Watch this replace. Look at where Sidney Rice's RIGHT heel hits.. It's clearly OOBs yet it was still ruled a catch..

And before you go referring me to the PFT article that talks about Approved Ruling 15.79 of the casebook, there is no such thing.

I see the morons who were sh!tting on the Patriots DL recently have gone back underground. Adios losers.

ROFLMAO. Dude. Clearly I was watching the actual game. Not some fantasy game where only Stats matter.. Referring to the STATS when they don't tell the whole story shows that you don't even belong in the conversation. Claiming the Wilfork wasn't disruptive when he was opening up holes to stop the Pats running game (Bolden- 10 of 16 carries for 1 yard or less) shows how wrong you are..
