Rob Gronkowski injury

Combining everything, I expect him to miss the Philly game and play against Houston.

The problem being that as bad as Philly looks, we'll have no Gronk, Edelman, Dobson. Sounds like Amendola will play.

We'll have no High (guess) and a (probably not full strength) Collins against a team that does a ton of short stuff.

Still think we'll beat Philly but we're almost out of players.

philly likes to run the ball, no hightower is a big loss.
plus nobody can cover sproles out of the backfield except collins but he's not 100 percent. they also have decent te's.

their defense on the other hand is awful. hopefully, they quit on chip

I don't know how anyone can definitively claim any game will be a win for the Patriots. We have the most mentally tough team in the league and I'm sure they'll adjust. I'm just not willing to claim they'll win a game at any time in the near future when there are this many question marks. So I agree with your point about the Philly game. They may be bad, but the Patriots are hanging on by a thread injury-wise.

Since I've clinched the #1 seed in my FF league, I can afford to have Gronk sit next week. After that, the playoffs and I need him back

Gronkowski's MRI revealed a minor knee strain, per source. He'll recover in 1-2 weeks.

So what the hell is a "strain"? We know that "sprain" really means tear. What's "strain"? And is that consistent or not with the other reports that say "bruise"?

Not a doctor but I'm guessing that the inside of his right leg is "bruised" from the hit and the muscles and ligs around the knee are "strained" or "stretched out"

The fact that nothing is torn or damaged is obviously the good news.

Good news to hear.

philly are terrible.
if gronk plays i would expect a monster game.

Schefter says he should recover in a couple of weeks, and that he's week to week right now.

Very difficult to imagine him practicing and playing against Philly, in my opinion.

We don't know the source, and I suspect imprecise terminology. Referring to ligaments should be sprain, as you mention. Got a whack right on the knee so bruise and sprain. Thrilled for Gronk and the team of course, although this cost me several hours of sleep I won't get back.

See 2 reports for #Gronk 1) knee "strain" (technically a sprain, LCL) 2) bruised knee (contusion vs deep bone bruise) Distinctly different.

Great news. Sit him for Philly and hopefully he's good to go for the stretch run.

Rob Gronkowski not expected to play Sun vs. Eagles, per sources. Likely to miss multiple weeks; return date will be a pain tolerance issue.

Looks like he's out this week, then we'll see.

As long as he is back for the playoffs

Looks like a "wait and see how the chips fall with regards to Denver and Cincinnati" type of hedge

Yeah, gut feeling is they'll keep him out depending on how the playoff race is going. Obviously there's a minimum he needs to be out (at least one) just to get reasonably healthy.

After that, the longer we go maintaining the #1 (hopefully) or #2 (at least) seed, the more they may keep him out just to keep him out. I know some disagree but as much as I want the #1 seed, the bye is the true prize (with #1 being an added bonus). We can lose another game and be guaranteed a bye. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play until/unless we lose another game. And if we do, we'll see if the Bengals and Broncos have lose another in the meantime.

I read it in the post above from @goheels22002. I think he's smoking some of the funny stuff again. :D

Groin injury in error. Boston Globe is confirming MCL sprain - not major. Apparently Hightower is week.-to-week.
