OT:It Begins. Eifert tongue bath

Eifert has been great this year. He does deserve a tongue bath. He leads the NFL in TD reception (although he has played one more game than most of the other leaders in this category).

He's not Gronk, but he is clearly the best TE not named Gronkowski in the league this year.

I would argue that Barnidge has been #2.

How do Eifert and Gronk compare as run blockers?

OK...so there's a really good looking young player in the league, and commentators lavish the highest praise they can think of on him: wondering whether he might ascend into the neighborhood of the acknowledged gold standard, Gronk.

Call me crazy, but isn't that a compliment?

I don't get why some are so sensitive about other people's opinions on players. So what if some think Eifert is appoaching Gronk or that Rodgers is better than Brady. Why do so many want(need) everyone else to have to think that players on their favorite team are the best?

We know what we have on this team. Some of the greatest talents to ever play. No need to prop them up by putting others down. Eifert has been a stud for the Bengals this year.

Why do we feel insecure about our team or our players that we feel the need to mock or downgrade the abilities of another contender or opposing skill player ?. Gronk is great for our team and eifert is great for his team. Thats all it matters.

No. It's derogatory. Eifert has about 1/2 the skill set of Gronk and they try to compare him. Be one thing if someone who can block as well as catch, route run as well as have speed then we can use Gronk as a comparo. To use the next flavor of the month disingenuous.

When you read and participate in this forum you come across great, knowledgeable football fans. You also unfortunately come across immature, insecure, impetulant, children.

The key is to engage the former and ignore the latter. Dont get caught up in someone else's insecurity where they can't even handle the fact that a Patriots player from past years teams might have been "better" than someone on the current team.

Insecurity

Hard to tell on Kelce since he has no QB throwing to him.
He's a beast though. He has a bit of that wow factor with the ball in his hands that Gronk has. Eifert is nothing like that. He's basically a red zone specialist at this point.

Greg Olsen is having a big year too, and he's a good player. He's a TE in name only though. A TEINO.

Because it s a systemic problem with society today. Everyone has the best. Or is supposed to. So when someone is the best (Gronk, Brady), it's irresponsible to even try to compare them to someone who is not, just to placate the fan base of said player.

I don't get why you are so sensitive that Pats fans are laughing about the media making it out as Eifert is as good or better than Gronk. So what if some Pats fans think it is laughable that the media has rushed to anoint Eifert as equal or better than Gronk. Why do you want (need) to ***** about Pats fans rolling their eyes at the the media and their anti-Pats bias rushing to anoint a player that plays the same position that a Pats player is currently the best in the league at playing?

Eifert is the benefactor of one hell of a recieving corps for the Bengals. Jones, Sanu and Green are all large, talented receivers. Green and San demand lots of attention in the RZ. I'm pretty sure all 3 of Eifert's tds last night came when he was singled up with a mismatch.

Don't get me wrong, he is having a hell of a statistical season, and seems like a fairly talented recieving te. I think it would be wise to look at all the weapons that offense has and realistically look at some of these numbers.

No he's not even in the same breath. But I do wonder if he'll threaten Gronks TD record this year... Sure won't threaten the yardage record anyways.

Not on this board! Also, broadcasters only talk about current players in the current game. There is nothing sexy in saying "Eifert is having a great night, if he does this night in and night out he can be in the same conversation as Gronk." No, no no. Viewers want hyperbole.

A little off topic here, but I feel Marvin Lewis should get the Marty Schottenheimer treatment in 06 this year. If he loses right away in the playoffs again, even if his team finishes 13-3 or so, he should be out the door.

He has a decent shot, and good for him if he does. Not all records are held by great players. Flipper Anderson still owns the greatest receiving day in the history of the league o_O

And okay a complaint about this thread. What do you want people to say? You want people to not even complement this guy for having a really good year? Of course he's not as good as Gronk but does that mean he can't even be recognized for good play?

People have been ooing and aweing over Dion Lewis as well this year and we're not complaining about it are we?
