Wow, this is totally messed up. **** the NFL.

"As one source has explained it to PFT, the Patriots have become concerned that a team eventually will plant bugs on its own and claim that the Patriots put them there. This has prompted the Patriots to ask the league to certify before each game that the visiting locker room is clean before an opposing team enters. Per the source, the NFL has declined to do this."

I heard Albert Breer on 98.5 that he knows that there is another team (who has been very successful) that teams suspect as much or even more than the Patriots. he said that they have employees at the visitor hotels on the payroll and that opposing teams leave dummy play sheets all over the hotel. Of course he wouldn't name the team in question, but he probably would have if it was the Pats.

That is pathetic. Boy what a shock hey declined to do that.

Green Bay? Just throwing one out there.

So the league refuse to assist in stopping potential framing?

Talk about protecting the shield right? The league is practically begging teams to set the Patriots up, it's blatant breaking of the anti-trust exemption because they aren't treating all teams equally.

I think the Patriots are 100% smart to be concerned of another team planting bugs (or some other sort of frame up) against them.

F the league and F Goodell.

Yeah, I've been worried about the same thing for a while, so not at all surprised that it occurred to the Pats long before it occurred to me. The league declining the Pats' requests shows exactly how little they actually care about this stuff, up until the moment they get a chance to 'nail' the Pats for PR points and their own Jets-driven vendettas.

Just think of how many times the Pats have been accused of doing easily-provable things, and despite there being no actual evidence that any of these things have occurred, SI and ESPN are still willing to print them as fact. Example: if the Pats were sending people into opposing locker rooms, that would be just about the easiest thing in the world to prove. Leave a playsheet out in the open, hide a video camera, point it at the entrance. Anyone who sneaks into the locker room to steal the playsheet will be caught on video doing exactly that.

And here's the thing: if teams actually believe that the Pats do that ****, then there's no way that this hasn't been attempted multiple times already. Similarly, if a bunch of teams are sweeping before bugs every game, and nobody's found one, there are probably no bugs to be found. At a certain point, the absence of evidence is pretty telling. If a bunch of people are searching very hard in a small space for one thing, and nobody ever finds it, it's probably not there and has never been there.

I bet the Pats are now paying a well reputed firm to sweep the locker room before each game.

They definitely should do that. Why would the NFL refuse to check the visitor locker room before the opponents get there? There's no reason at all for not doing it other than because it would vindicate the Patriots

The answer to your question is the same as the answer to why the NFL refused to refute Mort's false report.
