Jets safety on Brady: You prepare the same way you prepare for Kirk Cousins

really no big deal. Fans and media make a big thing out of nothing. all he seems to be saying is they want to be consistent in their preparation.

Is there a link to this quote?

The quote is meaningless without context, and harmless with it. Gilchrist is not disparaging Brady. He's referring to the Jets having to prepare for every game:

We can’t allow one game to be bigger than the other. Do we realize the type of player we’re playing against? Yes, we do. But you don’t change. We’ve got to be 1-0 this week, regardless of who it is – Brady – regardless of who we’re playing.

Gilchrist stresses that he’s not trying to disparage anyone. The way he sees it, it’s more about the Jets than it is about Brady or the Patriots. He thinks New York’s best bet to stop New England (5-0) Sunday is to focus internally on executing its game plan.

That may be true but still an interesting way to put it....

From the same article:

“You just made my stomach want to throw up,” defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said when asked how exactly he plans on stopping Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski and receiver Julian Edelman.

“But really, it’s hard. It’s very hard. When you look at them on tape, they pose a lot of problems, you kind of see it on their film with the match-up issues they create. They really do. The guy running the show is outstanding, too, so it’s a difficult task.”

So, it's basically an article about how good the Patriots are and how hard the Jets need to prepare. It's not disparaging of Brady, or the Patriots, at all.

This will be a tough game. Our defense has to play very well and try and win the field position battle.

I don't get what's supposed to be controversial about this statement. Isn't he basically saying "you always have to prepare as hard as you can no matter who you're playing?" If anything, it's kinda implicitly insulting Cousins for using him as the baseline ****ty player that good players are compared against.

thanks for keeping everything in context deus.

All this does is affirm that Kirk Cousins is the current reference point for scrub QBs. No knock on TFB

And if anything this is the smarter approach. Prepping extra hard for a game you're likely to lose seems like a loser strategy. It's like some teams think they get extra wins for beating the Patriots.

My bad, SB1... I did not even notice the link in the original post. I must be losing my eyesight in my dotage...

At first I thought the same but since they played the Redskins last week, it can be more on the "it's the same preparation from last week" side of things.

The Boston and New York press are the biggest vultures out there. Must be so hard to play in these markets where every writer is trying to twist your words into a controversy.
