It's easy, and only takes a few moments. We're not asking them not to donate anything but rather not so sanctimonious. It's the "look at us, we're wearing pink and donating to woman's cancer causes so buy our apparel" when they are also making money on the deal and donating a relatively small percent...This is the same league that took money to promote the armed forces with pregame displays ....They make no profit, they donate millions. They raise awareness getting others to donate. Consider how much a 30 second commercial costs in an NFL game. Then consider having several spots for a month in EVERY single game, plus players dressed and working with the campaign. The advertising alone is worth tens of millions.
Maybe you guys will get your wish and the NFL will donate nothing. There's a million other causes they could take up that would be happy for a fraction of the attention. If all they get is whining then that's probably what they'll do.
Yes. If you want get angry quickly and thoroughly disgusted, watch that. The problem is the K o m e n group. They are all about fund raising and very little goes to cancer research. Almost all the money goes to administration costs and marketing, and even the money spent on cancer research is often spent ineffectively. There is a good documentary on this that I saw on Netflix. It's an eye opener. It made me angry to see how the efforts & hopes of so many women, many cancer survivors, are squandered and frankly exploited.
They call that deflection. It's not really surprising. The big thing that the NFL always says is "cancer Awareness". The whole thing is more about getting people to go test themselves than it is about donating money to charity.
How are they making money on the deal except through indirect PR?We're not asking them not to donate anything but rather not so sanctimonious. Girl Scouts of America is a dynasty. One thing to keep in mind, if those are charities it's comparing apples and pineapples. When I just tried to google it I got lists of charities that are pure donations-based fundraising machines, not sellers of merchandise. Think Salvation Army Santas, compared to Girl Scout cookies. Can't evaluate the performance the same way for such different models.

The article doesn't back up that they make profit, or make it from licensing. And it's just a guy from another charity complaining they don't donate to his.See below. Mainly licencing. It's a joke.
Not only that but the "Crucial Catch" program it sponsors is medically misinformative.

They are the retailer that takes 50% of the costs. It doesn't cost $150 to manufacture and transport the team jerseys to the endpoint. Look at how cheap the knockoffs are. You are paying for the "official NFL" designation which is the fee paid to the league to use their logo/trademark....How are they making money on the deal except through indirect PR?
NFL is not the manufacturer. They can only donate their own profits. They can't donate the money made by the people that make the material, make the clothes, drive the trucks, or sell the clothes. They can only donate the share they get- and they do.They are the retailer that takes 50% of the costs. It doesn't cost $150 to manufacture and transport the team jerseys to the endpoint. <<<original linked article said:The league uses the color on its jerseys and other apparel in an effort to raise money for breast cancer research, but according to the report, the breakdown of how the money from sales of the apparel gets distributed is as follows: 50 percent to the retailer; 37.5 percent to the manufacturer; 8.1 percent to the American Cancer Society for research; 3.24 percent to the administration at the Society; and 1.25 percent to the NFL.

They donate to the ACS, if you have a problem with how ACS uses the money that's not in the NFL's hands.
According to data obtained from the NFL by Darren Rovell of ESPN, the NFL "takes a 25% royalty from the wholesale price (1/2 retail), donates 90% of royalty to American Cancer Society."
In other words, for every $100 in pink merchandise sold, $12.50 goes to the NFL. Of that, $11.25 goes to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the NFL keeps the rest. The remaining money is then divided up by the company that makes the merchandise (37.5%) and the company that sells the merchandise (50.0%), which is often the NFL and the individual teams.
That says the NFL donates 100% profit to charity. Revenue is not profit. They can't donate revenue because it's not their money.Below are the actuals.
The NFL never does anything for free.

Okay, that's not what it says, it says they donate 90% of their 12.5% "profit." This is after they take their 50% cut off the top. That says the NFL donates 100% profit to charity. Revenue is not profit. They can't donate revenue because it's not their money.

According to the NFL, any money they take in, that is not donated to ACS, is used to cover the costs of their breast cancer awareness program, "A Crucial Catch."
Bob maybe you can twist your point into something logical. But here's the problem. Whether the league is giving dollars to research and programs, or whether the league is giving millions of dollars of ACCESS to the message for free. What they ARE'T doing is letting the public know how their money is being spent. and why isn't the league being more honest about this project. It's like the . NFL is embarrassed about it. This is the same kind of honesty the league is giving about this program as they gave us about BradyNFL is not the manufacturer. They can only donate their own profits. I'm done with this, you guys are completely irrational. The criticism boils down to they should give more when they have no obligation to give anything. The NFL does more for this than anyone in this thread.
