I'm not rooting "for" NY, I'm just rooting AGAINST Indy.

Neither. I don't care who wins or loses.

This should be a no-brainer for everyone here. Division first, always. We want the Green Beans to lose. With every loss by a division rival, the Patriots are one step closer to the playoffs. Besides, the Colts already have lost a game, New Jersey hasn't.

Division smivision. The Pats are going 16-0 so they don't need the help.
Another way to look at it is if the Jests beat Indy they could possibly knock Indy out of the playoff race at the end. How sweet would it be to see Indy lose out on a tiebreaker?
Btw, I hate seeing Indy referred to as the Colts. I've never put those two words together and I never will.

That's one of those games where I can't say until the game actually starts

I think that's one of the interesting thing about sports… You're watching something and you realize huh, I'm rooting for X, who'd a thunk it.

Intellectually rooting for the Colts because the Jets are in the division. But the Colts losing this year will be very sweet every time. So, as you say, I guess we have to wait until game time.

I totally get that. This early in the season, any standings watching should usually start and end within the division. But yet...

I also know that the Colts' weak division gives them a huge advantage in playoff seeding. And that, as the defending Superbowl champions with a 2-0 start, the Patriots can reasonably be expected to be a major playoff contender. And that Ryan Fitzpatrick is the Jets' quarterback. So I think you can make a case that an out-of-division loss for the Colts is realistically more valuable to the Patriots.

That's me. I get the tactical approach of clearing away division rivals early but I just can't let go of the desire for a Cosmic Karmic Crushing of the Colts.

That's a good point...could be more helpful to have the Colts lose.

Just have to see....

This would be like Germany fighting Japan in WWII. They both need to lose.

With the Cravens at 0-2, it would be sweet nirvana if all three of the reviled were winless. And I would love to see all the Dolts supporters with their Super Bowl darling suffer again with an inexplicable loss. However, as the Jets play the floundering Iggles, the Fish and the Skins in their next three, they probably need to lose. I won't go so far as to say I want the Colts to win.

I disagree completely, especially at this point in the season. I don't like the idea of New Jersey at 2-0 and possibly building any kind of momentum, especially with that defense. Fitzpatrick is a mediocre QB, not a terrible one and they have reasonable weapons around him. Division first!

I want the Colts to have a crappy season too but I don't want them to have them get a 1st pick in the first round lol....

Yeah because their drafting history of picking run stuffing receivers is frightening.

Even their media darling 1st round guaranteed hall of fame QB pick is still trying to figure out how the hell he's suppose to carry 52 guys to the playoffs.:D

Don't be scared, they'll only be relevant in media talks. Regardless who wins, they'll eventually fall.

Imagine how much hand-wringing it would cause the Dolphin/Bills fans if the JEST have a better division record (more for the entire season than just standing after 2 weeks).

Colts, (as there is no way both teams can lose).

rather see a division rival get put back a game. (The Colts winning has little impact on the Pats).

We'll give the Colts their beat down when we play them.

It's not a matter of being "scared," it's being realistic. New Jersey is an unknown quantity at this juncture and one of three teams that MUST fail for the Patriots to succeed. Is anyone here scared of Indy in the playoffs? Look at the Jets schedule and if they win tonight they conceivably could start the season 5-0. WE DO NOT WANT THAT, PEOPLE!

I don't understand this logic, we're gunning for a bye and homefield. Colts have a shot at that and the Jest do not.

The logical and obvious response is that Patriots fans should want Indy to win tonight. Division losses add up.

But....

I want that Colts organization sent into a tumultuous, rotting, cataclysmic state of despair and hopelessness. I want them to see darkness for a 1000 years.

I will not "root" for the Jets but if they happen to win in a blowout I won't be unhappy.

Lots of great arguments being made for both teams to lose. Apparently the trick is to poison both cups.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a yardage war in Foxboro" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against Brady when you've pissed him off"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

As I pointed out the Green Beans could start the season at 5-0 if they win tonight (following with Eagles/Dolphins/Redskins) and that is not something we want, believe me. We can take care of business with Indy by beating them in week six.
