Schefter on Mike & Mike: The league absolutely asked the Pats to suspend M&J

I love how he said "as adamant as Goddell was that they didn't tell them to, I'm as adamant that they did" Go Adam!!!!!

He is adamant about it too. Basically calling Gooddell a liar. Of course no pointing out of the significance of this by the Mike's.

Wait, hold on...are you saying Goodell and the NFL lied about that?

Get the F outta here, they've NEVER lied about anything!

I'm still getting a kick out of everyone who skewered Goodell during Bounty and Rice and the concussion stuff, CBA negotiations and dishonesty around expanding schedules...and are now falling all over themselves to support his and the NFL's claims about Deflategate, as though they're bastions of integrity and honesty.

THEY...ARE...LYING!!!

Goodell not tell the truth, who would've thunk that?? He could not figure out the truth if he fell over it.. every day this overpaid political hack continues to embarrass himself and the league..

But as the money flows mightily to the owners, they will not care about so called "integrity"...

I approve this message - roger goodell

Schefter might as well have yelled (Liar, liar, pants on fire) at Fraudger.

This thing has baffled me from the beginning. Someone help me out.

We know that the league has stated publicly that those two were suspended by the Patriots and has said that
the league must approve their reinstatement and upon reinstatement are not allowed to go near footballs.

We know that the team has asked the league for permission to reinstate the employees. If the league is saying that it was the team's choice, why would they care if they reinstated them?

We know (?) that the league has not approved their reinstatement- yet.

It would stand to reason that the league influenced the Patriots to suspend the employees.

Why is the NFL being so cagey about this?

I can only assume that it wants the Patriots to be the employer/guilty party if named in some kind of labor law/wrongful discipline violation by those two?

I asked in another thread what level of reinstatement are the Pats asking for? Full access or the access that the league put in the sanctions?

Clearly there is some dialogue going on between the league and the team over this issue.

Something is up.

Yes!!!! that pissed me off!!! The only thing you got from Golic was a "huh". WTF can't people see the problem with this. Adam was so adamant about it, almost like he was pissed that Goddell flat out lied!!!!! Bet we won't hear that clip played over and over today!

"I am not trying to make anyone look bad but...." and then he made Goodell sound like a liar. :D

From here on--even after Goodell leaves--I am just going to assume that the NFL operates in Costanza's Bizarro World (AKA Opposite Day). Anything they say, the reality is exactly the opposite.

This, I think, is the critical part, and why Goodell will say he is not lying.

We know that the team has asked the league for permission to reinstate the players. If the league is saying that it was the team's choice, why would they care if they reinstated them?

This, I think, is where they League is again being power hungry, to their own detriment

I can only assume that it wants the Patriots to be the employer/guilty party if named in some kind of labor law/wrongful discipline violation by those two?

This, I think, is where you answer your own question. And why they would be better off to just stay out of the reinstatement altogether, so they can deny culpability in a lawsuit. But they've probably already blown that.

Roger is a fibber

I thought it was funny that in EspitN infamous article, they said that Senator Specter did not find Goodell to be credible, back in 2007. At least he has been consistent for the last 8 years.

Oh the irony that Specter was right but for the opposite reason he was going for.

Very curious to see if LeBatard says anything about it on his show next...he's been big on pointing out how you can't trust Goddell, but wondering if espn will get to them before they go on the air.

The NFL has to fear a suit by McNally and Jastremski. They are non union, non public people who have been falsely accused of participating in a cheating scheme. The NFL has made wild and unsubstantiated accusations against them publicly and these guys can sue in Federal court out of Massachusetts. Their lawyers can conduct discovery and seek all the details and communications regarding the incident and investigation. The NFL is a big fat juicy target here that has shown they are totally incompetent.

Can you imagine discovery against Kensil, Goodell, Vincent, Pash, Gardi, Wells etc...? Also how many NFL owners communications regarding Deflategate would also get rolled up in this.
