I see what you did there ;)

Seriously though, congrats for being able to come to a rival forum without being a douche bag. We have fans from many teams who are regular visitors.

I think secretly they wish their teams were as good....can you blame them for checking out our forums? :D

Or the guys on their forums who are saying A. Jones' injury isn't a big thing because they have a lot of depth. Yep, that's right. Depth.

Well... Today is the day it will be vacated. It is my 4 year anniversary to my wonderful wife and we are die-hard Pats fans. So much so that we named our son Brady.
So 1 game vacated per year married x 4 = 0 games missed.

I can get behind this.

We, as a fan base, will remember 09/03/2015 as either a day of great triumph, or a day of unfathomable depression.

I got it today.:D

I think he's saying that if Berman decides today, the losing party will file a motion for a stay/injunction pending appeal, then there will be more briefs filed, then the decision on that stay/injunction, before it's all repeated before the 2nd Circuit.

Though I don't know if the NFL would be able to file for a stay/injunction if they lost. I doubt it.

No idea. I just checked PACER (10 seconds ago) and there's been no updates. Date of last filing still listed as 9/1 and the Written Opinions Report shows nothing for the case.

I guess he's just saying he expects all that to happen today?

Of course they can file for one. Whether or not it is granted is a different question.

A stay would be something the NFL asks for if Brady wins. They would be asking Berman to stay (i.e. refuse to put into effect) his order in favor of Brady until the appeal is decided.

An injunction would be something Brady asks for if the NFL wins. He would be asking Berman to enjoin (i.e. prohibit) the NFL from carrying out the terms of the punishment until the appeal is decided.

If Berman refuses to grant whatever the asking party asks for, that party can make the same request of CA2 (which would probably be less likely to Grant it than Berman would).

Thanks.
You should consider developing an APP that translates Twitterese into English. That was quite nicely done!

Lol I have a hard time with it too :) Most of the time, deciphering what someone's trying to say is just about figuring out the words that are missing... In this case, most of what I said was in Wallach's tweet, but the enjoining words making them clear weren't. I wish the character limit on Twitter was at least 50% longer, some of these tweets just aren't easily read.

Whatever the result, we got real football up in here in 1 week...Brady is GOING to be playing football this year...this fiasco has solidified a fan base and that is good to be a part of.

It just drives me nuts that even though the case is full of holes, the mere fact that a CBA exists supersedes all circumstantial (at best) evidence. That should not be the deciding factor. 'Well we have a CBA so don't bother showing us the facts, we will decide irrespective of what has actually occurred'. How is that just? That is wrong.

If Berman ruled for Brady, I can't envision any universe in which he then grants the NFL a stay of his decision pending appeal. Brady's punishment is for 4 weeks starting in a few days, and any appeal will take much longer than that. The NFL would effectively be saying "hey, we know you ruled against us, but can you let Brady just be punished anyways? Thanks"

Totally agree with that.

Whereas, based on his lines of questioning in Court, if Berman reluctantly rules for the NFL because he decided that he ultimately couldn't get around Garvey (not saying he will do that), I could see him granting an injunction against enforcement of the Suspension pending Appeal.

I disagree completely. All the NFL would be asking for is permission to enforce Bradys suspension and resulting loss of salary while the league appeals the decision. It's completely reasonable as Brady could simply make the money and games back by just playing longer than he planned on playing, whereas the league and Goodell would lose the joy of watching Brady sit out and lose millions for something he didn't do, which is something they could never get back. That's an irreparable harm to the League and Rogers happiness, and meets the criteria Berman needs.
